8 www.DesertMessenger.com May 21, 2014 Contributed by: Violet Kiss Busy times, busy times…spring cleaning, quiet days, warm breezes, there's a lot going on, including the Quartzsite Rotary. The new Salome High Interact Club had their fi rst Assembly meeting on May 7th. It was terrifi c watching this new club take-off and get excited. They fi nished getting their Constitution in order and elect their offi cers and Committee heads. What is great to see are how they all work together and almost every one of the 10 or so members participate. The very next day was Salome's Senior Banquet. Ron Jones and I attended mainly to give the Quartzsite Rotary's $1,000 Scholarship Award to our very own Niki Foster! All members of the family were there and we were so pleased to award this scholarship to a most promising and involved student. We wish her the best and asked her to keep in touch during her university years. We have a new member! Our 10th member is Judi Clark, Branch Manager of Quartzsite's Horizon Community Bank. I believe most of us know and have seen how involved she is and wants to be with our little town. Welcome aboard, Judi. Lastly, and, I know, I know, "hurry up". Our last news for this edition is the Isaiah 58 Project. We all are aware of the great work they do for anyone in need, anyone. They are the fi rst to be called when some- thing goes wrong in an emergency or someone is in need. Their doors Rotary Doings Desert Messenger offers FREE Classifi ed Ads! Many of us are aware of the huge tax problem and the potential of Isaiah closing if their taxes are not paid. This is not a political, or religious issue, this is a humane issue, our Quartzsite's issue. We, the Quartzsite Rotary, decided to write out a check for $1,000 to hopefully lighten their tax burden. There is knowledge of pledges to help in this. We can never be sure if all the pledges come true. So if any- one can, please donate. This is a wonderful time of coming together and helping where and how we can. See you next month, same place. 2014 - 2015 Calendar of Events submissions wanted Attention Quartzsite groups, clubs, and organizations. We are starting to compile the 2014-2015 Calendar of Events.
