Alumni Update
Robert J. Knox '43 and his wife, Jean,
celebrated 70 years of marriage in August. The
couple was married on August 22, 1943, and

David T. Runyan '58 recently returned from
an 18-day cruise. He keeps busy in retirement
taking art classes two days a week and had three
displays in an exhibit in August. After leaving
Minnesota, David has enjoyed the Florida
winters and notes that the summers aren't more
difficult than Kansas summers. "You can't
shovel heat," he said. David lives in Altamonte

John C. Byers '63 and his wife, Amy, reside in
Boynton Beach, Fla. They have two daughters
and a grandson who went through rush at
Georgia Tech.
Michael H. Mount '65 enjoys traveling
in the United States and Europe during his

Howard L. Wilcox Jr. '66 retired in August
2011 and spends his time playing golf and seeing
his grandchildren. He and his wife, Cathy, enjoy
church activities, traveling, and following the

Mark W. Meisinger '69 enjoys retirement. He

Stephen M. Purdy '76 retired as director of
sales at Sara Lee in 2012 and opened Purdy
Consulting LLC in 2013. He and his wife, Kay,

J. Brooks Augustine '80 recently joined Nielsen
as Senior Vice President, Professional Services in
September 2012. His oldest son, Spenser, finished
his baseball career at Ottawa University as their
third best hitter in school history. His younger
son, Reid Augustine '15, was Recruitment
Co-Chairman for Pi Deuteron this year and is a
junior at KU. Brooks and his wife, Jane, live in
