Texas Alpha Endowment Fund Hosts Scholarship Banquet o n April 26, 2014, the Texas Alpha Endowment Fund (TAEF) held a scholarship banquet at the Texas Alpha house to recognize undergraduate members that demonstrated dedication to the chapter, the university and the community. The Scholarship Banquet was held on Moms Weekend, and the event was certainly enhanced by the presence of more than 30 moms (and a few dads) of the undergraduates. TAEF awarded more than 30 scholarships to undergraduates for achievement in academics. The Scholarship Program recognizes undergraduates who complete 12 hours of study with a 3.25 GPA or higher. The value of the individual scholarships varies based on the GPA and current class. TAEF also awarded 25 additional scholarships in recognition of service to the chapter, to the university and to the community. Undergraduates demonstrated dedication to philanthropic endeavors, university organizations, work on chapter committees, rush and scholarship. TAEF was privileged to award more than $40,000 in scholarships to worthy recipients. Seven alumni attended the banquet to award the scholarships. In furtherance of the TAEF mission, the alumni also provided wisdom and guidance related to the value of education and experience in Phi Psi. Alumni also provided practical advice on getting hired after college. TAEF will continue these topics in the fall. Through the Phi Psi Creed, TAEF works to help young men understand what qualities are expected of a good brother, a good Longhorn and an exceptional man. TAEF is dedicated to enhancing the undergraduates' educational experience by managing a mentor program, searching for internships for upper classmen, developing an educational speaker program and supporting leadership training to the brothers. Founders Day is the TAEF's chief fundraising event. Please join them in supporting the development of Texas Alpha men by attending Founders Day, serving as a mentor or offering to take on a qualified intern next summer. TAEF looks forward to working with all alumni in the development of the next generation of brothers. If you have any questions, please contact Mark Mayer '90 at mmayer@hammerle.com.
