Billie (BJ) Rhines, Scholars’ Academy A TRIBUTE TO MY FRIEND JOE I read in the last issue of this news- paper of the passing of, my friend, Joe Graham. Joe deserved more than just an obituary notice. Joe was a valued member of the old Veterans Associa- tion. It was an organization, prolifi c with ideas, of the the helping hand kind. Joe was a willing volunteer. Wheel chair ramps were built for in- dividuals in need of them. On Plomosa Road the Quarttzsite sign and the Texas star areas were fenced. Joe was there. Working with the late Chuck Busby and Jack Burris.the post and cable fence at the Town Park was installed. Joe was there. At the jet plane site when the rock monument, at the base of the fl ag pole was built. Joe was the man with the trowel. Guys like Joe, make this town a community. Elmer F. London, Quartzsite, AZ M 4, 2011 HARMONY SHATTERED & SALARIES Here’s how intimidation works... someone wants you to be afraid to take action against injustice, or else horrible things will happen to you. I wonder what horrible things are go- ing to happen to me, now that I have fi led a complaint against Jennifer Jones for disturbing the peace at our library yesterday morning. I wonder what wonderful things could happen if we maximized the potential of a “Reserve the Right to Refuse Service” sign for the sake of town harmony. Your last issue fi nally put to rest the mayor’s accusation that our town leaders get paid an unreasonable amount. Thank you for enlightening our town with the facts, and nothing but the facts. Hygeia Halfmoon, Quartzsite Salon” to groom our dogs for several years. We have been very satisfi ed with her work. However, after having read her paper, “The Desert Freedom Press” that is full of untruths, half-truths, and innuendos, we will no longer be using her services. She seems to have a hostile attitude and general lack of integrity towards our community; support of her causes has cost us thousands of dollars which this town can ill afford. Also, those businesses that choose to support these practices and advertise in that paper will not be frequented by us.  SEE LETTERS ON PAGE 5 OPEN ALL SUMMER!
