President Barack Obama announced late Sunday evening, that America’s Number One Terrorist, Osama bin Laden, had been killed. Even before the offi cial announce- ment, people were gathering; phone calls, Tweets, & Facebook posts were feverishly made; tears, patriotic songs, and prayers were being offered up here in Quartzsite and around our nation. Just days prior to that announcement, the world was celebrating the sweet love of the British Royals in the most watched Wedding of the Decade, revelling in the pagentry. Wednesday morning, Obama released his birth certifi cate, and told the world, “We’ve got big problems to solve. We are not going to be able to do it if we spend time vilifying each other ... if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts...we are not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by side shows and carnival barkers”. And then later on Wednesday, the south for an objective or goal. What stories are you sharing? Are they supportive, hopeful, inspirational? Or are you feeding rumors? Just as President Obama said he doubt- ed that facts presented would quiet the birther conspiracy theorists, Quartzsite rumors abound with innuendos. Fear and anger can destroy the peace in here in Quartzsite to galvanize our com- munity. The phenominal donations for the Scholars’ street banner only took a few hours to gather. Celia’s Gardens is a must see! The new walking path on Plymouth & Quail Trail adds to the connectivity of our community. Honor- ing our diversity teaches us to respect others. Keeping focus on what brings people together, rather than what sepa- rates us is healing. Perhaps it’s time for us as individu- experienced horrifi c tornados that de- stroyed whole towns and killed hundreds. Watching the devistation, my heart is saddened. Please remember to donate to Red Cross and other organizations! We all remember where we were on that fateful day of Sept. 11, 2001. We might even have extremely strong emo- tions arising from our painful memories and stories. Stories can be very powerful to open hearts and minds. Amazing things happen when people come together harmoniously als to think about how we can come together more often, remembering our gratitude, and share our successes. As America celebrates the end of the reign of terror from Bin Laden, it would be good for us remember the pain of those who lost loved ones on 9.11.01, and those suffering loss from the recent natural disasters. Pray for their healing. Let us all unite together against terror- ism in any form. Let us pray for those who are still fi ghting terrorism around the globe. Honor our warriors! And pray for Peace!
