Adventure, leave at 6am, return on 5/20 at 11pm. May 24th Awards Potluck, starts at 4:30pm. Awards start at 6pm. May 24th Field/Water Day- have children wear clothes that they can get wet QUARTZSITE VFW INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS Ben Scott VFW Post 769 in Quartz- site held its ceremony to install their new offi cers at the post this past week. The installation ceremonies included the swearing in of offi cers for the Post, and Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Men’s Auxiliary. The new Post Commander is Shane Anderson, taking over the offi ce from Mike Davis who has been the com- mander there for several years. The Sr. Vice Commander is Jeff Sorensen, Jr. Vice Commander is Lyle Qualls, and Quartermaster is Dennis Dole. The Adjutant is Jeff Sorensen, Surgeon is Art Larsen, Judge Advocate is Vince Nelson, Service Offi cer is Mike Davis, and Chaplain is Bob Braa. The Men’s Auxiliary consists of President- Frank Edwards, Sr. Vice Pres. Roy Austin, Jr. Vice Pres Brian Kemp, Treasurer Stan Hanna. Secretary Steve McClenning, Chap- lain Leroy Frazier, Guard Sonny Bru- net, Trustees Robby Robertson, Joey Keelin and Sonny Brunet. The Ladies’ Auxiliary includes-- President--Eva White, Sr. Vice Pres-- Tamara Ragsdale, Jr. Vice Pres--Janet Sheets, Treasurer--Mary Ann Peck, Secretary--Terry Morris, Chaplain-- Jean Braa, Conductress--Joyce Sny- der, Guard--Winifred Fullhart, Trust- ees--Gale Goosen, Roxanne Cole and Julie Anderson. After the speeches and the swear- ing in of each set of offi cers, the Post hosted a pot luck for everyone who at- tended the event. Some great food, lots of best wishes and heartfelt thanks to those whose terms were up, and lots of congratulations to those who were be- ing installed for the next terms. These men and women do a lot of projects for the military personnel and their fami- lies and help those in need in any way they can, not just in Quartzsite, but all over the state and national levels also. We congratulate all the new offi cers and know they will work hard to con- tinue the good that is done by the VFW in this area. CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION Quartzsite, AZ - Thursday, May 5th, the Quartzsite Elementary 8th Grade class will be hosting a Fes- tive Family Dinner to benefi t the annual end of year 8th grade trip to Disneyland. The dinner consists of one home- made beef burrito, a tamale, rice and beans with chips and fresh salsa for only $6 per plate. The dinner will be held at the Quartzsite Elementary School Gymnasium, located on W. Quail Trail, beginning at 5pm. Bring your whole family and en- joy the delicious food! May 25th Staff Volleyball game vs. kids at 1:30pm May 26th * 9:30am Kindergarten Promotion * 6:00pm 8th Grade Promotion May 27th * Yearbook signing party * Last day of school August 18th First day of school P��� 9 Just Rambling... Early TV was always live. Wrestlers were almost civilized. We visited an uncle, hypnotized from staring at a test pattern. I was on a noon TV show. I was prideful until a man on the street asked, “ Did I see you on TV?” Yes I said, “he said, I wondered who that fat man was.” Oh! Stardom you’re so fleeting.
