Main - Quartzsite (one block east of Family Dollar) 928-927-6551 Contributed by: Violet Kiss As our snowbirds leave and we settle down in our warm, serene (hehehe, okay a bit windy) weather, we have a lot to thank people for. Our membership is steady and growing. Our latest member is Paul Albrecht, a co-owner of Al's RV Park. Welcome, Paul. Shortly, we'll have more members joining so they can spend more time with us during their/our quieter plan- ning season. Our Rotarian, Norm Simpson, thanks all who came to the South- western Roundup Art Show last month at his Mountain Quail RV Clubhouse. The guests, includ- ing me, were thrilled at all of the outstanding artwork. Quartzsite has an active art community here in all types of media. We should celebrate the artisans we have here in town and those who participate. Quartzsite Rotary wants to es- pecially thank Craig Reynolds, owner of the Sundance RV Resort (Parker Dam, CA) and the Pirate's Den & RV Resort (Parker, AZ) in giving a generous donation to the Quartzsite Rotary for our programs in community service. He was kind in letting us take over the Black Pearl Restaurant for a dinner benefi t on a busy Saturday evening during Spring Break. "Angels" such as Craig Reynolds, mentioned above, and Dave Bayles, owner of Inland Builder's Supply (Blythe), need to be thanked often for the good they do for charities like ours. To this we give a heart- felt "thank you" to help us help others! Rotary Doings The Arizona Center for the Book at the Arizona State Library is excited to announce the 2014 ONEBOOKAZ ebook winners. Three Arizonians have been se- lected as the featured authors. The three selected titles are: Adults: Lauren Greasewater's War by Stephen Hirst Teens: Corr Syl the Warrior by Garry Rogers Kids: The Space Adventures of Jack Smacker Little Leaguer by Mike Giglio In the past, the Arizona State Library supplied the books each year to the Parker Public Library and programs and book discus- sions were presented. This is the fi rst year the State Library se- lected the three authors through an eBook writing competition. All three books are now available to download for free from www. parkerpubliclibrary.com or www. onebookaz.org. The kids eBook will be read to the after school group on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting April 1st at 4:30 pm. at the Parker Library. The teens may load the eBook on their devices or use one of the libraries iPads which will be available for "in library use only" starting also on April 1st, any time after 3:00 pm. For the adults, if you are having trouble downloading to your device or computer, there is someone who can help you at the library. Enjoy reading the book and be prepared for a book discussion led by the author himself, Stephen Hirst. He will be visiting the Parker Library on April 24th at 1:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to meet the author, discuss his book, Lauren Greasewater's War, and have some refreshments. This is a free pro- gram and for more information, call the library at 928-669-2622. • Birth • Obituary • Anniversary Place it FREE in the: Desert Messenger! 928-916-4235 Got something to share?
