What the heck was I thinking when I said, "How exciting! Sure, I'd love to help!" I am in awe of the countless volun- teers from the QIA, PNQ and other organizations jumped in to help with such an enormous undertaking. I remember, 30 years ago, the feeling of walking the festival grounds after volunteering at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. The GRAND Gathering left me with the same feeling of, "Wow... look what can happen when people come together!" Somehow, my body is not as happy as it was 30 years ago and it's taken much longer to recover from the long hours. How could that be? The feelings are the same...! Okay, are you smiling yet? If so, it's a good day! I am so grateful to be a part of the Quartzsite community, known for the enormous pool of volunteers who give so generously of their time and money. Please Quartzsite GRAND Volunteers ROCK! LETTERS TO EDITOR POLICY Desert Messenger encourages letters from its readers.
