Outdoor & Emergency Supplies EQUIPMENT RENTAL Specializing in Unusual & Hard to Find Items www.RocksInMyHead.com 605-376-8754 By Joanne Winer The Quartzsite Community Thrift Store voted at its monthly board meeting this month to do- nate funds to help the After School and Summer Recreation Programs that are sponsored by the Town of Quartzsite. With budget cuts all over the place, the board felt that funding for these very special pro- grams would be where the money should go this time. The check for $500 was given to Yesenia Jackson, coordinator for the after school and summer rec programs, and will be used to buy items needed for the kids, like craft supplies, books, and snacks. The store has also donated several craft items that have come in so the kids could do their projects. This brings the total funds dis- tributed back to the community to $22,500 – since the store opened just three years ago. Money has also been put aside to help the kids who are hoping to go to summer camp this year, as the store has done for the past two years. The board feels that the kids really de- serve the opportunity to go to the after school programs and summer programs, and also to have kids be able to go to camp if they want to. The thrift store will be going on summer hours at the beginning of April, when the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Donations are always welcome during busi- ness hours, and can also be picked up by calling Jini Dill at 916-7338 or 928-927-6039. All monies made at the store after store expenses are given back to different organizations to help them do the work they do. The board would like to thank everyone for their continued support of these efforts by donating their items and also by being customers of the store and helping raise the funds so they can give back to the community.
