and have showed a knack for helping each other on the defensive end, will host No. 11 Central Valley, which has upset the No.6 and No. 3 seeds, at 7 p.m. Tuesday. "The girls don't want it to end," Eller said. "They want to keep playing." On the boys side, the No. 1 seed Corning Cardinals romped the visiting Lassen Grizzlies, 58-35, in a NSCIF quarterfinal game Friday night. The Cards, who before the game honored coaches Bob Albertini and Bill Ma - che, who on Friday tallied his 525th win, built on their 8-6 first quarter to lead 29- 12 at halftime. Corning throughout the game exploited its height advantage over No. 8 Las - sen (17-12) by getting the ball to star Michael Shoe- maker. Shoemaker, who stands at 6 feet 7 inches, finished the game with 21 points. He scored 11 of those in the second period, and sev - eral of his emphatic blocks throughout the game elic- ited roars from the Corn- ing faithful. Corning's Chance Nel- son finished with 12 points, Chayce Maday ta l l ied nine points, Manny Gar- cia scored six points, Nick Hoag had four points, Jesse Bennett scored three points and Quincy Jones notched two points. The Cardinals (22-4) are defending Division IV sec - tion champions, and are scheduled to host No. 5 West Valley 7 p.m. Wednes- day in the semifinals. Johnson, who signed a one-year, $8 million free- agent contract with San Diego after spending the 2013 season with Toronto, pitched two hitless innings and struck out two. He was on the disabled list for part of 2013 and had surgery on Oct. 1 to remove bone spurs and loose cartilage in his right elbow. Lincecum, who signed a two-year, $35 million deal in the offseason after finish - ing 10-14 with a 4.37 ERA in 2013, gave up a hit, walked one and struck out one in two innings. He was the National League's Cy Young Award winner in 2008 and 2009. The Padres' Alexi Ama - rista broke a scoreless tie with a home run to lead off what would prove to be a six-run sixth, and Tommy Medica hit a two-run shot. San Diego was 0-4-1 en - tering the game. Starting time Lincecum made some mid-outing adjustments that helped him settle down. "My hip was out of align - ment, which caused me to fall toward the plate instead of drive (with the legs)," Lincecum said. He only threw a portion of his repertoire, primarily the fastball, split-finger and curveball but no slider. "It was good to get a sense of a real game-type atmosphere," he said. Some people were sur - prised that the Giants de- cided to re-sign Lincecum, especially for such signifi- cant money, even though he pitched a no-hitter against the Padres on July 13. He threw a career-high 148 pitches and struck out 13. "I wanted to (re-) prove myself as a Giant, not with some other club," Lincecum said. Trainer's room First baseman Brandon Belt continued to be both- ered by a stiff neck. Man- ager Bruce Bochy held him out Monday because Belt couldn't swing a bat with- out discomfort. Bochy said he hoped Belt would be able to return to the lineup for a road game on Tuesday against Colorado. LHP Jeremy Affeldt (leg muscle surgery) pitched a strong inning in a "B' game on Monday against the Chi - cago Cubs, not allowing a hit while walking one and striking out one. Bochy called the setup man's outing "real good. He had a nice breaking ball and good command of his fast - ball. He should feel good about that inning." Glimpse of the future In the same "B' game against the Cubs, right- hander Kyle Crick pitched two innings, giving up a run on two hits. The Giants' sup - plemental first-round pick in 2011, listed as the Giants' top prospect by Baseball America, struck out the side in his second inning. Bouncing back After a horrendous first spring outing in which he gave up six runs on seven hits in one inning of work, closer Sergio Romo re - turned to the mound on Monday and pitched a hit- less inning, striking out two. A lso, free -agent left fielder Michael Morse, hit- less in his first eight at- bats, finally got his first hit as well as a walk. PaDreS 7, gianTS 2 Johnson and Lincecum strong in spring debuts The Associated Press San FranCiSCo » Wide receiver Anquan Boldin and the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a two- year, $12 million contract with $9 million guaran- teed Monday, keeping quarterback Colin Kae- pernick's top target from last season from hitting free agency. 49 er S Bo ld in s ig ns f or tw o mo re y ea rs By Jose m. romero The Associated Press PHoeniX » Clayton Ker- shaw isn't sure why he's off to a rough start in spring training, but he's not happy about it. Kershaw allowed five runs on two hits and three walks during Oakland's 7-3 victory. He was unable to get an out in the third inning. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner gave up three runs and five hits in two innings last Wednes - day in his first start of the spring. He looked strong in his first two innings Mon- day, retiring the A's in or- der, but opened the bottom of the third with back-to- back walks to Daric Bar- ton and Derek Norris. Sam Fuld and Nick Punto had run-scoring hits, with another walk in between, and Kershaw's day was done. He struck out two. The A's scored all seven runs in the inning and sent 12 batters to the plate. Asked if he is concerned, Kershaw said there is al - ways concern for him when he struggles. The left- hander signed a $215 mil- lion, seven-year contract in the offseason, the richest ever for a pitcher. Dee Gordon drove in the Dodgers' first two runs with a triple in the second off starter A.J. Griffin. Andre Ethier added two hits and an RBI. Los Angeles committed four errors and walked nine. Starting time Griffin gave up two runs and four hits in two innings, striking out two. "First time out, I thought he threw the ball well. I thought his breaking stuff was really good," A's man - ager Bob Melvin said. Good impression Gordon is the leading contender to open the sea- son at second base for Los Angeles should the club de- cide untested Alex Guer- rero is not ready. Gordon helped his cause with a two- run triple in the second in- ning. A shortstop most of his career, the 25-year- old Gordon has long been known for his speed more than his bat. He hit .234 in 38 major league games last season and .228 in 87 games in 2012. A's center fielder Billy Burns, a prospect acquired in an offseason trade with Washington, drew a walk, scored a run, singled and stole a base as he pushes for a roster spot. He has five stolen bases in spring training. Old friends Punto, a key reserve and fill-in starter for the Dodg- ers last season, stung his former club with a two-run single off Kershaw. Punto played third base, short - stop and second base for Los Angeles last season and started at second for Oak- land on Monday. "We got him for a reason and he's a great fit here," Melvin said. Next up The A's have split-squad games Tuesday against Milwaukee and the Chi- cago Cubs, with right- hander Dan Straily going against the Brewers, and left-hander Tommy Milone facing the Cubs. a'S 7, DoDgerS 3 Kershaw's rough start Basketball WESTERN CONFERENCE Pacific Division W L Pct GB Clippers 41 20 .672 — Golden State 36 24 .600 4½ Phoenix 35 24 .593 5 Lakers 20 39 .339 20 Sacramento 20 39 .339 20 Southwest Division W L Pct GB San Antonio 43 16 .729 — Houston 40 19 .678 3 Da ll as 3 6 25 . 59 0 8 Memphis 34 25 .576 9 New Orleans 23 36 .390 20 Northwest Division W L Pct GB Oklahoma City 45 15 .750 — Portland 41 18 .695 3½ Minnesota 29 29 .500 15 Denver 25 33 .431 19 Utah 21 39 .350 24 EASTERN CONFERENCE Atlantic Division W L Pct GB Toronto 33 26 .559 — Brooklyn 29 29 .500 3½ New York 21 40 .344 13 Boston 20 40 .333 13½ Philadelphia 15 45 .250 18½ Southeast Division W L Pct GB Miami 43 14 .754 — Washington 31 29 .517 13½ Charlotte 27 33 .450 17½ Atlanta 26 32 .448 17½ Orlando 19 43 .306 26½ Central Division W L Pct GB Indiana 46 13 .780 — Chicago 33 27 .550 13½ Detroit 24 36 .400 22½ Cleveland 24 37 .393 23 Milwaukee 12 47 .203 34 Sunday's games Chicago 109, New York 90 Toronto 104, Golden State 98 Orlando 92, Philadelphia 81 Indiana 94, Utah 91 Oklahoma City 116, Charlotte 99 San Antonio 112, Dallas 106 Phoenix 129, Atlanta 120 Monday's games Memphis 110, Washington 104 Brooklyn 96, Chicago 80 Miami 124, Charlotte 107 Detroit 96, New York 85 Milwaukee 114, Utah 88 Minnesota at Denver, 6 p.m. Lakers at Portland, 7 p.m. New Orleans at Sacramento, 7 p.m. Tuesday's games Golden State at Indiana, 4 p.m. San Antonio at Cleveland, 4 p.m. Miami at Houston, 5 p.m. Philadelphia at Oklahoma City, 5 p.m. Clippers at Phoenix, 6 p.m. New Orleans at Lakers, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday's games Houston at Orlando, 4 p.m. Utah at Washington, 4 p.m. Indiana at Charlotte, 4 p.m. Memphis at Brooklyn, 4:30 p.m. Golden State at Boston, 4:30 p.m. Chicago at Detroit, 4:30 p.m. Dallas at Denver, 5 p.m. New York at Minnesota, 5 p.m. Sacramento at Milwaukee, 5 p.m. Atlanta at Portland, 7:30 p.m. Grizzlies 110, Wizards 104 GRIZZLIES (110) Prince 8-11 3-3 21, Randolph 7-16 2-3 16, Gasol 4-10 2-4 10, Conley 7-14 4-4 20, Lee 4-7 1-1 9, Allen 3-6 1-1 7, Davis 2-3 0-0 4, M.Miller 3-6 2-2 10, Calathes 3-4 0-0 6, Koufos 2-2 3-3 7.
