The continued use of colored gemstones and interesting cut diamonds incorporated into organic and geometric designs. The timeless essence of black and white designs combined with a modern twist on rococo-in- spired curves and swirls will definitely be a standout this year. Also the story behind the design and the way the piece is manufactured is very important in the jewelry industry. Now more than ever, our industry has become environmentally conscious and is more intrigued by eco-friendly processes and designs made in the U.S. Are you working on any special projects or collaborations this year? My recent collection of rose-cut diamonds called "Déjà Vu" has been receiving a great deal of attention. In fact, with many new design ideas, I am expanding within the same collection and launching more pieces this year. How do you think the economy will impact the jewelry industry in 2014? The jewelry industry began to feel the growth and rising activities in 2013. I believe all the indicators are positive for the luxury and jewelry industry to continue its growth in 2014. Will you be adding or omitting any trade shows to your normal routine this year? Currently, we cater to the high-end retail stores within the U.S. and care- fully choose national trade shows that fine retailers are attracted to. Our plan is to increase our presence on the East Coast in 2014 and there is an exciting possibility to add a trade show in that region. We are definitely thinking internationally and are looking at opportunities abroad. We will, of course, be participating at the Couture Show in Las Vegas. If you weren't designing jewelry, what would you be doing? Playing or coaching soccer! Sum up 2013 in one word: Outstanding What design trends do you anticipate in 2014? How about larger trends within the industry? We anticipate many horse-themed designs including horse shoes, bits and saddle rings. We also anticipate a fusion of fashion designs with bridal. Are you working on any special projects or collaborations this year? Le Vian will be opening 1,000 locations internationally on all continents. How do you think the economy will impact the jewelry industry in 2014? The strengthening of the markets in Europe and Asia along with the stronger growth in the US will lead to more importance for stronger jewelry brands.
