More attention to wholesome awareness & responsibility. Are you working on any special projects or collaborations this year? Bridal with Antique Diamonds How do you think the economy will impact the jewelry industry in 2014? There is an undeniable economic recovery and an air of confidence for the future. This is a great environment for people to feel relaxed and treat themselves and their loved ones to something nice. Will you be adding or omitting any trade shows to your normal routine this year? We will be taking a break from the JA New York show and trying the Baltimore American Craft Council show. If you weren't designing jewelry, what would you be doing? Music. Sum up 2013 in one word: Expansive What design trends do you anticipate in 2014? How about larger trends within the industry? Well we will definitely see radiant orchid! Color blocking is a trend I see for a while. People are so emotionally connected to how colors relate to each other. As far as bridal, we are going back to traditional cuts and larger stones. Also, we will be seeing more statement pieces, bolder and riskier. Are you working on any special projects or collaborations this year? Yes! I am launching a new bridal line that is all handmade and the materials are completely transparent and certified. My brand is known for it's ethics and this is something I have been working on for years! I am incredibly proud of this achievement, as I have always been told that it is impossible. I am also working on a couture one-of-a-kind collection that is completely transparent as well. How do you think the economy will impact the jewelry industry in 2014? I think 2014 will be a great year for the industry. Gold is down and people are ready to splurge on themselves. The industry is excited to see new innovative jewelry that breaks away from the traditional manufactured work we have seen for too long. Will you be adding or omitting any trade shows to your normal routine this year? I am tempted to add, but I am unsure of which one. If you weren't designing jewelry, what would you be doing? Funny you ask, I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I would be a designer of some sort. Right now I am decorating the interior of my house. I love doing display and windows. I've been told I could be a masseuse, racecar driver, interior designer, architect, paramedic or therapist. Adel Chefridi chefridi.com Jennifer Dawes Dawes Design dawes-design.com
