Local Eats Have a suggestion for a Local Eats? E-mail editor@otownscene.com Farm fresh The Farmhouse at Emmons offers casual fine dining. On state Route 7 right outside of town in Oneonta, is the 31-year-old Farmhouse restaurant. In 2007, Tom DeMulder and Ferdinand DeJoseph transformed it from old-school salad bar into The Farmhouse at Emmons, a casual, upscale eatery. DeMulder and DeJoseph formerly owned and operated Toddie’s Restaurant in Sidney for over 20 years, and their expertise in crafting a fine dining experience shows. Whether you want to go out for a date or take the parents to dinner, The Farmhouse is the perfect spot. Boasting an exten- sive menu, head chef DeJoseph describes the food as “regional American with European influence.” DeJoseph’s attention to detail in all of the dishes he creates, even the sides and salad dressings, is phenomenal — everything is made from scratch, of course. The meats are roasted daily, and the seafood is fresh, not fro- zen. The emphasis is on freshness and variety. In an effort to please everyone, it offers a children’s menu that includes a spectacular homemade macaroni and cheese, smaller choice selections for those who don’t have a hefty appetite and several vegetarian offerings. I give the the pasta pie two thumbs up, but the gnocchi is also delicious. 8 O-Town Scene Jan. 6, 2011
