Casual Chit Chat Each week, we have a casual conversation with a member of the community. This week, Massage Therapist Chanda Misevis of One Sweet Swedish Massage and Cassandra Miller chit chat, casually. 1. If you lost your hands, what profession would you pursue? Florist, scuba-dive instruc- tor, photographer, forensic scientist, pianist, helicop- ter pilot or host of one of those shows where they pay for you to go around the world and ex- perience everything ... just to name a few. Wait — do you literally mean like if my hands were chopped off? Let’s just hope that doesn’t happen! 2. What musician would you like to be friends with? Too many to name. 3. You have family in 4. How do you deal with friends and family try- ing to mooch mas- sages? No prob- lem. I have learned to say “no” when I’m not up for it, but that rarely happens. I usually am hands on before they know what’s happening. I can sense a knot from across a room. 5. You’re a stylish mas- sage therapist; who is your style icon? Why thank you, Cassan- dra. I don’t have one icon. Sweden; ever want to live there? Yes, I have family and many friends in Sweden, and I dream of the day I can live there. I like a blend of vintage and modern. I’m savvy. I can shop anywhere and find something great to put together. 6. What is your ideal Satur- 7. Gertrude Stein fa- mously said that America was her country, but Paris was her hometown. What place (other than your actual hometown of Stamford) has felt as comfortable as a home- town for you? Absolutely Stockholm. “No matter how cranky or tired they are, I sing that, and they just melt into bedtime bliss.” day-night-without-the- kids activity? Either dinner and a movie with Casady (my partner) or a girls night out — from the Black Oak Tavern and MFP (My Father’s Place) to New York City, anywhere as long as I’m with my ladies. Defin- elty not stay- 8. What’s one song that means something to you? One that I’ve been singing every night to my boys for the past nine years is “You Are My Sunshine.” We even made up a verse with our own lyrics. No matter how cranky or tired they are, I sing that, and they just melt into bedtime bliss. 9. What’s the best part about living in the One- onta area? ing home to snuggle in bed — that would be boring. This is home. My partner and I are local, and when we started a family it was natural to stay. It is a decent place to raise kids. I feel comfort- able and safe here. Being close with friends and fam- ily is vital, and an easy three-ish hours to my sister in Brooklyn makes for a great weekend trip. Plus it’s central to the beauty New York has to offer. There is a little bit of everything here. “Florist, scuba-dive instructor, photographer, forensic scientist ...” www.otownscene.com Let the Scene keep you warm.
