SP Page 3 Fall 2013 pledge class for the Alpha Iota Chapter. Welcome, New Members Tristan Blake '17 Warrenton, Mo. Alpha Iota on Top at Missouri S&T Chapter Excels in All Areas of Fraternity Life T he Alpha Iota Chapter has been busy in these first two months of classes with academics, service events, and intramurals, as well as working diligently to improve our standing with our National Chapter. Philanthropic Events a Priority Alpha Iota service and philanthropy opportunities are taking center stage for the members of Sigma Pi. We have already taken a trip to an assisted-living facility to help with cleaning and maintenance, and we plan to visit a local elementary school to build a garden later this fall. The week after Homecoming, the chapter held its largest Altruistic Campus Experience (ACE) event ever. The ACE project consists of a singleday event, targeting a group on campus who is underappreciated. This year, the actives plan to dedicate an entire week to the ACE project. Chapter GPA Above All-Men's Average Alpha Iota performed very well in academics last spring, earning a chapter GPA of 3.016, above the all-men's average. The chapter was also awarded for academic excellence by the Missouri S&T Interfraternity Council for placing second in grades in consecutive semesters. Recruitment Strong Again This fall we brought in 12 new members. Alpha Iota has five prospective new members for the spring semester, with the hope being to exceed our recruitment goal of 13 members for the year. We plan to have at least 40 brothers by next spring and 50 by next fall. This year marked the 80th anniversary of the Alpha Iota Chapter, and I would like to thank all alumni and families that attended the Homecoming event. We appreciate your support.
