Adytum on High
Edson S. Bumps '43 entered the Chapter Eternal
on January 12, 2011. He was an avid golfer and
sports enthusiast. In retirement he developed a
passion for stained glass and his talent can be
witnessed where he attended church. Edson is
survived by his wife, Lois; brother, Alfred; son,
John; daughter, Carlene; two granddaughters;
and two great-granddaughters.

Kenneth M. Wilhelms '49 was a member of
the group that negotiated the purchase of the
property at 206 East 12th Street, becoming one
of the first residents of the house. Kenneth and
his wife, Betty, live in Ballwin, Mo., and he will
turn 90 next year.
Lanny L. Evans '57 retired from a career in
the mining industry with American Zinc, St. Joe
Minerals, and The Doe Run Company. Lanny
and his wife, Linda, live in Rapid City, S.D.,
30 minutes from Mount Rushmore. In his spare
time, he enjoys leather crafting and touring the
old mining claims in the Black Hills. E‑mail:

George D. Tomazi '58 has remained active in
the engineering profession since his retirement
in 1993, currently working with the Engineers
Club of St. Louis and the Academy of Science
in St. Louis to purchase and erect a statue for
James Buchanan Eads. He also serves on his
grandson's Boy Scout troop as a merit badge
counselor. George lives in Florissant, Mo., with

Mark W. Morris '63 founded a non‑profit
group, Help One Child, over 20 years ago
which still enjoys success today. The charity
helps and recruits homes for foster children. For

Bob Myrick III '65 enjoys riding bikes, hiking,
and winter sports. He is promoting the building
of more trails and bike facilities and is president
of Mount Tahoma Trails Association in Tacoma,

John M. Berger '68 is celebrating the 10th
anniversary of his business, EEES, with his wife,
Susan. The company supplies large industrial
companies with air pollution equipment. John
and Susan live in Saint Charles, Ill., and have

Robert H. Orr Jr. '69 enjoys retirement and
traveling with his wife, Mary, all over the
world. He wishes best of luck to Alpha Iota for

William D. Alexander '70 spent two months in
Colorado with his wife, Janet, their children, and
grandchildren. The couple lives in Kansas City,
Mo., and now enjoys going tandem bicycling
after a great experience in New Zealand last

Brent M. Babyak '84 is planning to build his
dream home with his wife, Patti, and retire in
spring of 2014 to his family farm in Missouri.
Brett and Patti currently live in Quincy, Ill., and

Jerald L. Curless '84 enjoys hiking and staying
active in Arizona, while also climbing mountains
with Don Zertinger '82, in Glacier National
Park. The two summited their second 10,000foot peak last summer and plan to hike two more

L. Alan Smith '92 manages the P&L for the
Next Era ownership share of Seabrook Station
in New Hampshire. His wife, Julia, runs half
