Eric Vidal led Red Bluff with 18 points as four Spartans hit double-digits in the 71-50 win. Zane Medeiros had 17, Ian Hill chipped in with 11 points and Carlos Tapia had 10 for the Spartans. Red Bluff lost on Thursday night to host Arcata 51-38 on a night where the Spartans couldn’t find their shot. The Spartans cut the game to 1-point in the fourth quarter, but Arcata pulled away again. Red Bluff plays McKinleyville in the today’s fifth place game. Live Oak Tournament Corning rolled by Hamilton 79-29, Thursday night in the opening round of the Live Oak Tournament. The Cardinals are 4-2 on the season. Trinity Holiday Classic The Warriors will play for third place at the Trinity Holiday Classic after falling Friday night, but beating Fort Bragg 58-56 on Thursday. “Consistent scoring through four quarters was huge for us,” coach Steve Shellabarger said. “We played all 32 minutes.” Mercy had a balanced scoring attack with four players reaching double-fig- ures. Michael Wang led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds. Jeremie Jones and Mitchell Lopez each had 12 and Steven Rodriguez had 10. The Warriors held a 53-40 lead with five minutes to go, but saw the lead slip away as foul trouble and injuries crept up. Trailing by a point in the final minute, Jones took the ball in the high post and converted an and-1 to put the Warriors up for good 58-56. “Everyone who plays is contributing to our effort on the floor. Each player has something to offer our team. If we can continue to play team ball we will be okay,” Shellabarger said. Duard Millet Tournament The Lady Cardinals bounced back from an opening round loss at the Duard Millet Tournament in Oroville to knock off Lind- hurst 34-23, Friday night. Brittney Garrett scored 18 against Col- fax. 43rd Annual Lady Trojan Classic The Lady Warriors dropped two tough games to a pair of tough opponents at Durham’s annual tournament. On Thursday, Mercy lost 59-36 to Lower Lake. Morgan Hampton-Glines led Mercy with 12 points. Maggie Keller added nine points and nine rebounds and Diana Van Ert chipped in with nine points. On Friday, the Lady Warriors gave Divi- sion-III Foresthill all they could handle before falling overtime 59-50. “We played our best first half, we played all year,” coach Jim Wilson said. Hampton-Glines had a game-high 21 points. Van Ert added 15 points and Keller had a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Mercy held the lead after three quarters, but were slowed by 15-for-35 shooting from the free throw line. “That’s what really hurt us,” Wilson said.
