In IIKE, Jennifer Meehan '94 President, House Corporation Board of Directors (864) 934-5386 elhcbod@gmail.com at the University of Alabama Amy Greene Aughtman '94 Reminisces on Epsilon Lambda Experience W When Amy Aughtman '94 enrolled at the University of Alabama, she had no idea that a sorority would provide so many opportunities for leadership. "I knew that joining a sorority would be a good way to get to know new people and make friends. I came from a small town and the campus was a new and big experience. Gamma Phi gave me a way to network and helped me develop lasting friendships." After graduating with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, she went to work for Southern Nuclear in environmental compliance, overseeing three nuclear facilities. Now Amy serves as the licensing manager, constructing the first new nuclear plants in the U.S. in 30 years near Augusta, Georgia. "Epsilon Lambda gave me the confidence to learn how to network and conduct business. Upperclassmen like Karen Miller Russell '92, Monica Turner Green '92, and Kristen Koncewicz Yoffe '93 were great role models and helped me develop leadership skills." Looking back on her days in the chapter, Amy enjoyed her time in the chapter house. Her studies required much of her time and attention, but by living in the house she was able to connect with sisters more easily in her free time. "It was nice to have a group of friends you could count on for impromptu outings, movies nights, or just an ear to listen." Kristen Koncewicz Yoffe and Jenny Thrasher Griffin '94 were and still are very special to me. I look forward to future Epsilon Lambdas having that same experience." Amy resides in the Birmingham area with her husband, Jamie. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing the hand bells at church, canoeing, and fishing with her husband. Amy can be reached at amy.aughtman@gmail.com.
