Brad met a Lambda Chi on his residence hall floor upon arriving at the University of Alabama, and their fast friendship led to his pledging Alpha-Phi Zeta. He claims the treasurer position at Lambda Chi helped give him a sense of how small businesses were managed. As a donor to the capital campaign, Brad felt the Chapter was able to address some chronic problems with the house. "In order to continue recruiting outstanding men, we had to improve the house," he said. Brad is impressed, not only in how the house has physically improved, but also in the increasing focus on academics in the Chapter without sacrificing the closeness of the members. "Joining the Chapter was the smartest thing I did in college. The brotherhood and friendships I formed helped mold me," Brad said. He hopes that his experiences can help guide active members, just like Bobby Ray Hicks, AF520, did for him when he lived in the Chapter House. Bobby's life experience and wisdom resonated with the young men when they once took a prank too far. "He sat us down and told us that it was okay to have fun, but it can impact you for the rest of your life. I wouldn't have been a beneficiary of that leadership if I hadn't been in Lambda Chi," Brad said. Brad makes an effort to visit the Chapter House when he can and encourages other alumni to do the same. "You will be shocked by how much fun it is to get back. It brings back a flood of warm memories," he said. "It's one of the great pleasures in life to reconnect with your brothers and is quite amazing to feel like you've been together the whole time."
