Generally SPEaking A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI OF ALABAMA ALPHA t SIGMA PHI EPSILON t FALL 2013 ALABAMA ALPHA CONTINUES EXCELLENCE A labama Alpha concluded another successful semester this last spring. We were able to expand our brotherhood, participate in the community, and become better men through the process. We are excited to begin this fall semester. The brotherhood had an amazing spring semester that began with the election of the student government association president, our own brother, Harrison Mills '13. It took a full effort of every single brother on campus in their free time campaigning for Harrison to allow him one of the greatest opportunities on the Auburn campus. We have continued to focus our philanthropy efforts on the organization called Impact, started by one of our brother's sister. Impact focuses on an anti-bullying message in lower income communities. Twice a week brothers go to schools selected by Impact and work with the students in a mentorship role. We are excited for this upcoming fall semester. Recruitment continues through the summer led by our recruitment chairmen, Jacob Clemmensen '15, who has done a great job introducing potential new members to the Alabama Alpha way. We are happy to welcome five new members to our brotherhood. They worked hard all semester and we look forward to their development as brothers. The social calendar this past semester was a success, orchestrated with great teamwork from our social chairman, Preston Bodnar '15, and our VP of finance, Stewart Pittman '14. We had successful social events that included our yearly staples of Grain Party and Waikiki. Waikiki is always a great way to enhance brotherhood. All the brothers come together to work on the structure that we build in the back of the The burning heart ritual. house. Over a three-week period, we gathered bamboo, worked on the structure, and laid sand throughout the back. We have a great fall schedule lined up and are excited for a new Auburn football season to start. We are excited to announce that we have an alumni weekend planned for October 5, the Ole Miss game. Friday we have Alabama Alpha alumnus Weston Burt '08 performing from his debut country album. Saturday we will have a tailgate at the Chapter House prior to the football game. All family and friends are welcome. As always, feel free to stop by the house anytime you like and see the hard work our brotherhood has been doing. We look forward to another semester at Alabama Alpha. War Eagle! He has always enjoyed business and connecting with people, but SigEp led him to even more leadership opportunities. Harrison is the current student body president at Auburn. He has been involved with campus politics since his freshman year, starting as a member of IFC, and then a two-term run as a student government senator. "Originally, I thought about running for student government treasurer because I was the budget and finance committee chairman, and I served Inside: Alumnus Spotlight t 2 as the vice president of programming and vice president of finance for SigEp. I had a vision for Auburn's future and my friends and family encouraged me to run for president," says Harrison. Harrison's platforms include innovative plans to improve student life across Auburn.
