3 SIGMA PH I EPSILON S igEp National and Oregon Alpha are announcing a new method where you can help the chapter's learning and educational programming, which includes the chapter's nationally recognized Arete Conversations Program, which will expand this fall to include a chapter retreat (conversation). Your gift will help provide support to undergraduates attending leadership programs, on-site chapter retreats, improvements in the chapter's library, in-house technology, etc., ensuring Oregon Alpha has both the activities and environment to be a true home to live and learn. Your gift will be tax deductible too. Contributors will be recognized in future issues of the Oregon Alpha newsletter. All gifts should be sent to the SigEp Foundation. Stay tuned for additional details later this fall on how you can support Oregon Alpha! Helping Oregon Alpha Through Your Financial Support Steve Cook (76-969) Steve's fingerprints are everywhere at Oregon Alpha. This summer, he led the effort to install an irrigation system and completely replanted the front yard. Six days of work were followed by visits to finish the installation. Special support was provided by David Grover (12-2062) and Pacific Landscape, who donated irrigation system parts and pieces. Greg Riches (95-1536) and Riches Seeds contributed a sack of Oregon's finest Tall Fescue seed, and Greg Eves (92-1446) and Gavin Brown (91-1389) assisted in prepping/ leveling the front lawn prior to seeding. Craig Lehman (69-831) Chris Achterman (69-809) David Cutsforth (69-821) Their efforts to improve the chapter house continue. The dining room and guest bathrooms were renovated, the basement was repainted, and repairs were made to the upstairs baths. Craig is now finishing a new coffee table for the living room. Brenda and Steve King (89-1350) Mom's/Dad's Club Leaders Oregon Alpha's parents are beyond generous. Examples include the new weight room equipment in the basement and chairs in the library. New window blinds will be installed this summer on the first floor with AVC support. Mark Pahl (90-1373) Mark continues to organize, foment, and encourage the Portland area's alumni events, where brothers connect two to three times a year. If you'd like to join his email notices, contact him at osusigepalum@gmail.com. On June 27, an alumni/undergraduate networking event was hosted by Gavin Brown. Another tradition derailed by COVID-19 has returned! This event is designed to help collegians interact with alumni and discuss career direction and professional development. Christopher Sarles (87-1257) Arete Conversations are SOP at the chapter. At the annual Alumni Work Party, alumni work at the house to make significant upgrades that the undergraduates cannot do alone. This year, the front lawn was replaced and irrigation was installed.
