S IG MA PHI EPS IL O N t O R EG O N AL PHA CHAPT ER t O R EG O N S T AT E U NIV ER S IT Y SUMMER 2024 M y name is Evan Rudisile '25, and I have the honor of serving as chapter president of Oregon Alpha. I am a senior majoring in supply chain logistics management with a focus on international business. Hailing from Virginia, known as "the birthplace of presidents," I bring with me a deep sense of history and responsibility. You might wonder: why be president? My motivation comes from a desire to restore our chapter to its historic excellence, both on campus and nationally. Since my freshman year, I have been inspired by the stories of the remarkable men who came before me. They not only built this chapter's legacy but also enriched the community around it. The opportunity to contribute to our chapter's future is a privilege I deeply cherish. In conversations with my fellow brothers, a recurring theme emerges: a desire for a chapter united in creating an exceptional college experience, one that stands apart from what other chapters at Oregon State offer. However, the chapter's expectations of members and chapter behavior and performance have not been consistently shared; in essence, our chapter culture has been conflicted. Each member's unique background, goals, and perspectives enrich our chapter, yet we need more consistency. We're in a process of confirmation. Academic expectations, once ignored, have returned. Our standards committee is proving effective in addressing unacceptable behavior. The executive board is confirming that expectations and behavior are consistent. An example of this is the academic performance graph presented to the left. We review internally and will continue to share with you; as is said, "What's counted, counts." Central to this effort is our membership. We must recruit individuals who are genuinely committed to this unique experience. Our vice president of recruitment, Jacob Barton '26, is dedicated to this mission but cannot do it alone. We need your assistance in identifying and referring potential members who demonstrate leadership in their schools or communities. Together, we can ensure that Oregon Alpha thrives and excels for the next century. Fraternally, Evan "Rudy" Rudisile '25 Chapter President rudisile@oregonstate.edu The Case for Oregon Alpha C ollege men spend 90 percent of their time outside the classroom. This means most of their college experience is driven by their everyday life. Academic performance, relationships, and professional preparedness are all common challenges men face when they step foot on campus. No campus organization answers these needs better than a fraternity. The key to Oregon Alpha's future is the men the chapter recruits. If you know a young man heading to Oregon State or on campus who would be an excellent candidate, contact Recruitment Chairman Jacob Barton '26 at jdbarton22@comcast.net or (503) 319-2706. Mason Quist '27 is leading Oregon Alpha's Balanced Man Scholarship Program. This scholarship recognizes OSU students who've demonstrated exceptional academic and leadership qualities. The chapter provides a total of $3,000 in scholarships. Applicants are eligible regardless of whether they join the chapter. If you know of a qualified candidate, contact Mason at masonq143@gmail.com or (541) 761-9828. More information is available at oregonstate.sigep.org/bms.
