CELEBRATING LEADERSHIP O n October 28, 2023, Illinois Alpha hosted its Balanced Leader Scholarship reception at the new Campus Instructional Facility at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The reception, attended by finalists, friends, volunteers, and esteemed alumni, marked a significant milestone in the chapter's reestablishment on campus. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Balanced Leader Scholarships, a distinguished accolade that recognizes outstanding individuals who embrace Sigma Phi Epsilon's commitment to fostering leadership and balance. Unlike previous years, the scholarship program was expanded to include female finalists, a testament to the new chapter's dedication to inclusivity and diversity. Delivering the keynote was Grand President Bradley C. Nahrstadt, Monmouth '89, a longstanding friend of Illinois Alpha and 1992 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law. Leading up to the evening event, the chapter engaged the Grand President in afternoon strategic-planning sessions. His keynote resonated with attendees, inspiring a renewed sense of purpose and dedication to SigEp's principles of leadership and service. The reception served as a poignant reminder of the pivotal role the scholarship plays in shaping the future leaders of tomorrow. As the Illinois Alpha Chapter charts a new course on campus, the scholarship remains one of the most powerful recruitment tools for SigEp.
