The world defines love as a feeling or emotion - whatever makes one feel good. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT LOVE? The Bible says a lot about love! 1 Corinthians 13:4: Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, Matthew 22:37-39: And He said to him, You SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' [38] This is the great and foremost com- mandment. [39] The second is like it, 'You SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGH- BOR AS YOURSELF.' John 13:34: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. Romans 12:9-10: Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. [10] Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give prefer- ence to one another in honor; 1 John 4:7-8: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. [8] The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 14:15: If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. Dave Fiddament "Dave the Bible Reader" THANK YOU QUARTZSITE COMMUNITY! You made the 4th Annual Great Salsa Off a wonderful experience! This year, we had fi ve teams competing (that's 11 total competitors), with nine different tomato-based salsas and one guacamo- le for the tasting. The competition was delicious, and with around 60 com- munity tasters to judge, everyone had an opportunity to let their taste buds experience something they loved. Opinions expressed in letters to the editor do not necessarily represent those of the Desert Messenger. letters to the editor Arise Alliance Church wants to thank the community of Quartzsite, our competitors, the workers at the town of Quartzsite and Community Center, and all the volunteers who made this another great event. Team "L and L" took home the Best Table, while team "Sweet Magnolia" took home Best Tasting with their mango salsa. Team "El Renegado La Vida" Took home the best Salsa Made in 1 Hour, and team "Salsa Wranglers" took home the Hottest and Best Overall. NDN Joe Salsas also partici- pated and sold some fantastic salsa, which are available on Facebook. Again, thank you all, and we hope to spice up your taste buds next year! I'm Nancy Nichols and I'm run- ning for Quartzsite Town Council in the 2024 election. I love Quartzsite. I love the folks who live here and visit. As you know, Quartzsite is special and unique. Whether you moved here intentionally or as a seasonal visitor, you've seen how it seems to envelop and draw you in. You acquire new friends and become family. Quartzsite scooped my husband and me up and embraced us and welcomed us and we soon became part of the lifeblood here. Our Quartzsite experience began in 2001 as snowbirds. A few years later we bought property, became residents, and have involved ourselves in many facets of town activities and organi- zations. I care deeply about our com- munity. I want to be an active, in- volved participant in the good things happening in Quartzsite. Don't expect me to make any unre- alistic campaign promises or dive in trying to change everything. What you can expect from me is unmitigat- ed honesty and integrity and that I'll take a dedicated and responsible role in representing Quartzsite residents, businesses, and visitors. I don't take the privilege of this position lightly and I'd be honored if you'll cast your vote for me for Quartzsite Town Council. Let's Keep Quartzsite Grow- ing Forward Together!
