W E L C O M E , N E W M E M B E R S F ollowing in his father's footsteps, Bill Little '64 found a fraternal experience through Phi Delta Theta that positively influenced his college years. Today, as a successful businessman and chairman of his company, Bill appreciates the Missouri Alpha memories he made while developing as a young man at Mizzou. MIZZOU MEMORIES MIZZOU MEMORIES "My father, Matthias Little '33, was a member, so that's what appealed to me," Bill said. Through Missouri Alpha, Bill made connections that have since turned into lifelong friendships. Bill gained crucial leadership experience as house manager, and he recognizes the impact that chapter service roles had on fellow brothers. "It's amazing how many contemporaries of mine had successful careers because of the leadership characteristics and lessons they learned in the fraternity." Living in Columbia, Bill still regularly visits with alumni brothers around his age. He has remained involved with the Mizzou business school for years through discussions with undergraduates, and Bill even won an award from the Mizzou Alumni Association in 2016. CAREER ENGAGEMENTS CAREER ENGAGEMENTS Bill joined the Quam-Nichols Company in 1970, a commercial and industrial audio products company based in Chicago. "It's funny how careers go; it was a successful company, and I joined and continue to be involved 50-some- odd years later." That involvement led to Bill becoming the CEO and chairman of the board. Beyond his company, Bill advocated for businesses as a two-term chairman of the Electronic Industries Association. Building from that role, Bill became chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in the late '90s and later headed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. "My company has prospered over the years; we've created many jobs. It's been a good place to work, and we continue to prosper. Opportunities were there, and we took advantage of them. We've created opportunities. I feel good about that." From Quam-Nichols and beyond, Bill has realized his capabilities as a leader. He is grateful for the fraternal experience that helped him develop those leadership qualities, and Bill sees great promise in today's business students at Mizzou. "I've been very fortunate—perhaps good luck being in the right place at the right time. I learned good lessons in the fraternity house, had a good education at the university, and it's all worked out exceedingly well for me."
