MO ALPHA PHI M I S S O U R I A L P H A C H A P T E R O F P H I D E L T A T H E T A THE UNIVERSIT Y OF MISSOURI SPRING 2024 The Top left: Lynn Miller '70 speaks at the dedication ceremony for the Bruce Beckett Chapter Room. Below: Come visit Missouri Alpha's new-and- improved chapter room, dedicated to the late Bruce Beckett '69. I f you haven't been to Missouri Alpha lately, you have got to come by and check out our most recent upgrade. Missouri Alpha's chapter room was completely gutted and remodeled this past fall, and it is impressive! On October 7, the room was dedicated and renamed the "Bruce Beckett Chapter Room" in honor of the late Bruce Beckett '69. Mizzou President Mun Choi spoke at the event, and Brother Lynn Miller '70 gave a heartfelt invocation. Our national fraternity gave praise and regarded the new chapter room as one of the nicest in the country! Thank you to Brad Boswell '93, Jason Stout '93, Jeff Wasson '95, Travis Condict '93, Jeff Lahue '93, John Miles '83, Craig Meyer '93, Matt Woods '84, and Will Montgomery '04 for their generous contributions toward the upgrade. On February 28, Chapter Advisory Board, under the leadership of President Mike Ruesler '15, held its annual meeting of the members. The board conducted its regular business and elected advisory board officers. Treasurer Chris Widmer '93 noted the chapter continues to maintain a solid financial position and the house remains filled to capacity. Alumni Weekend was set for the Vanderbilt game this fall, September 21. Please SAVE THE DATE and stay tuned for more details! Thank you once again to everyone who supported Missouri Alpha's capital campaign. All your generous donations have allowed us to create three annual scholarships starting in fall 2024. Missouri Alpha is extremely proud of its ability to keep membership costs affordable, and with the addition of the scholarship fund, we look forward to continuing our rich history of recruiting qualified young men from all backgrounds. The board, during the annual meeting, voted unanimously to name one of the annual scholarships after M. Ray Thomasson '52 for his highly generous support of the Scholarship Fund. The chapter house has also received over $300,000 worth of work due to an insurance claim resulting from a pipe burst last year. Although it was a long process, the outcome has helped Missouri Alpha maintain its position of having one of the greatest chapter facilities in the nation. As Brother Bruce Beckett would often prophesize, "This additional coat of paint will continue to improve the structural integrity of our beloved chapter house." Yours in the Bond, Matthew Beckett '96 Vice President, Housing Corporation Board Our Chapter Thrives Thanks to YOU! Building on Success
