"I had to go to the Sarasota jail basement and get supplies," Wille said. "It smelled down there." In 1960, Hurricane Donna headed for Englewood. Nancy remembers being sent to North Englewood Beach Road with a bullhorn, telling people on Manasota Key that they had to get o the island. Meanwhile, her father and his friends were on the southern part of the key, tying ropes to the Homan House so it wouldn't slide into the Gulf of Mexico.
