PA G E 3 C hi Chapter's semester was full of growth and achievement. For the first time in many years, our chapter completed the necessary standards to achieve our goal of becoming a Pillar 4-accredited chapter. This is a reflection of our chapter operations excelling in all areas this year, especially this semester. For academics, we remained above the all- women's GPA and still hold the highest GPA among Greek organizations on campus. In addition, Chi Chapter's philanthropic efforts have increased this year. Two of the most notable were our wiffle ball tournament supporting the Robbie Page Memorial and Sigma Saves supporting Mental Health Awareness Week. We also initiated 21 incredible new sisters this fall and recruited five more wonderful women through informal recruitment, who were initiated in November. Our presence on campus is quite profound as we have representation in nearly every organization and participate in many on-campus events and efforts. Recently, our chapter worked hard throughout Homecoming week, and a significant number of members attended every single event. Furthermore, our float won first place this year, our Yell Like Hell routine was phenomenal, and the crowned Homecoming Queen was our very own sister, Morgan Blubaugh! Within the Greek community, we have held runouts with every single Greek organization this year, many of them taking place this semester, and we hosted multiple sorority-wide events. Some of our events included Sigma Saves, new member retreat, Family Day, Dad's Day, Hazing Prevention Week, many sisterhood events, Big/Little Week, and our pumpkin patch date party. Toward the end of the semester, our chapter also held a mental health presentation by a formal NFL player, hosted an event with Mosaic, and held a fundraiser for the Ali Kemp Education Foundation. Chi Chapter participated in the "Sail- abration"," which was the unveiling ceremony at the site where our new house will be built. The semester was amazing, and we are very proud of all our achievements. In our bonds, Lauryn Macy '19 Chapter President Assisting as Alumnae The center of this special friendship and their memories was the Chi Chapter House. The place where they strengthened their bonds and grew closer was not in good shape when they were active members, and they are excited to contribute toward a brighter future for their collegiate home through the Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future - Chi Chapter Centennial Campaign. Cathy is a Tri Sigma national officer, and after being approached about the chapter house at a convention in 2019, she knew action needed to be taken for the sorority to remain competitive at Pittsburg State. She and other alumnae worked together to establish a Housing Corporation, a collegiate advisory board, and a Pittsburg alumnae chapter to begin the journey. "When we took our vows, we said we were Sigmas for life," Cathy, who serves as the Co-Chair of the campaign and Treasurer of the Housing Corporation, shared. "I know what the sorority did for me personally; it gave me my very best friends, career opportunities, and contacts in leadership development. I just want that to continue for women in the future." "This gift is important for future generations of young women who need this special sisterhood as they navigate their college years. I hope there will be many who find lifelong friends with whom they can sit down with years after college to revisit memories and continue to make new ones." –Maura Maura didn't hesitate to join the board as a campaign insider, as she knew there were women who would need their home away from home on campus. "I know that the actual house structure does not make the sisterhood, but it will be wonderful for future generations to have a warm, welcoming house to come home to and begin to make their own Sigma memories," Maura said. Into the Future The friendship Maura and Cathy formed within those four walls remains as strong as ever today, and they continue to keep up with each other and spend time together at summer reunions. "I really benefited from Cathy's friendship during my time at Pittsburg State, and maybe through my support, many others will experience the same special Sigma sisterhood," Maura shared.
