There was excitement all around at our 'Sail-abration,' and we look forward to what's to come in the next few months and years. You can read a recap of the event on page 4. OUR NEXT CHAPTER With this huge accomplishment, the next chapter of our sisterhood has officially begun. We cannot wait to provide our future members with the home they need and deserve, but we still need the commitment of our alumnae to achieve this. We are beyond grateful for the 122 alumnae and friends who have contributed $878,692.00 toward the Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future - Chi Chapter Centennial Campaign. Through your support, you have each shown what Tri Sigma means to you and what it could mean to the sisters who follow. For those who have yet to join us, we encourage you to think back to your time as an undergraduate—to the memories and friendships you made and the opportunities you were afforded—and help ensure similar experiences for the next generation of Tri Sigmas. See how the friendship of Cathy Duffin Albright '78 and Maura McGraw Nulton '78 inspired them to support the campaign below. MAKING ROOM FOR OUR SISTERS With our growing sisterhood, we are running out of space for our members to comfortably gather in the chapter house. Chi Chapter currently has 70 active members, which makes for a tight squeeze when the whole chapter gets together. Furthermore, the Housing Corporation recently revised its bylaws to ensure the house is always at full occupancy; this is not only important in our existing house but will be imperative in our new house, which will have a capacity of 28. All members experience living in the house during their sophomore year, which give them the full sorority experience. JOIN YOUR SISTERS TODAY We want each of our members to enjoy their time in the chapter house and experience the sisterhood to the fullest. You can help make that happen by making a gift today. No gift is too small, and we truly appreciate your consideration in helping us reach our $1.2 million goal. Room naming opportunities are still available, starting at $25,000. This is the perfect opportunity to give in honor or memory of a sister. We thank you for your dedication to the sisterhood and can't wait to continue our journey. In our bonds, Cathy Stareck Linaweaver '77 Housing Corporation President Danielle Geier Driskill '09 Alumnae Relations Advisor The Collegiate Years A sorority can be a valuable aspect of a woman's collegiate journey. Making lifelong friends, creating lasting memories, and gathering for quality time at the chapter house—these all contribute to the feeling of home away from home and make our sisterhood so special. When Cathy Duffin Albright '78 started at Pittsburg State, she didn't know much about sororities. Having grown up 10 miles south of Pittsburg, she was used to going to school, then work, then back home and wasn't involved on campus. When a member of Tri Sigma invited her to a recruitment party to see what the sisterhood is all about, Cathy gave it a go and discovered this was the sorority for her. With a different experience, Maura McGraw Nulton '78 transferred from a community college near her home and had no intention of joining a sorority; however, when some Tri Sigmas invited her to learn more about Chi Chapter, she changed her mind and joined the fall new member class. Cathy and Maura became very close during their time in Tri Sigma. They found they had so much in common; they both grew up in large Irish Catholic families, shared the same values, and were doers. When one of them signed up for a committee or activity, the other did too. "It was always 'Duffin and McGraw do this, Duffin and McGraw do that,'" Cathy joked. Maura loved the simple moments with Cathy in college, like when they shared the smallest basement room and would sit on beanbag chairs and talk. "She was a great listener and never hesitated to provide advice when needed," Maura shared. "It was important for us to have someone to help navigate through the ups and downs of the college years, sharing in laughter and tears."
