THANK YOU FOR THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SUPPORTING GAMMA! GAMMA! W e appreciate everyone who has joined Indiana Gamma in our previous two March to the Madness campaigns. Not only do your contributions help us in the tournament format—the donations go toward meaningful causes like scholarship and program funding. JOIN US FOR 2023 MARCH TO THE MADNESS INDIANA GAMMA CHAPTER B rothers, as Sigma Alpha Epsilon Foundation President, I have a unique view of all ΣAE chapters across the realm. To be fair, I will openly admit that I am somewhat biased, but I think that Indiana Gamma is special. I don't have enough space or time to share what I learned at Gamma that I have been able to leverage in my personal life and professional career. I believe if you use the True Gentleman as a guide, you can get to the right decision more often than not; it's a high bar, tough to meet consistently, but worth the effort. In 1964, Indiana Gamma won the John O. Mosley Zeal award. We were the ninth recipient overall. In terms of all donations to the Foundation, Indiana Gamma ranks seventh out of roughly 300 chapters since 1856. Our alumni have made their mark in many ways, setting the bar for the next generation of brothers, both inspiring and challenging us to get to the next level. Over the last five years, we have competed as a chapter in March to the Madness (or M2M), winning the event two years ago and finishing runner-up last year. We have had some amazing co-captains over the last three years: David Barrick '79, Dan Aron '83, and Douglas Smith '83. The format is similar to the NCAA tournament: two teams compete from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central, the team that raises the most moves on to the next round, and the event consists of six rounds. The winner and runner-up get their names on the trophy and help fund their chapter's CEF. Not sure if you are aware, but based on feedback from the field, we are now donating a larger percentage of the amount raised by each winning team from the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, Final Four, and Championship Round to their Chapter Education Fund. Our undergraduates can use these funds for scholarship and fees to ΣAE programming and leadership events. Based on additional feedback, we will now only play one round a week. This should take some pressure off the captains, and ultimately donors, for a one-day turnaround of sending a "we won, thank you, can you give again tomorrow" note. We would ideally have at least one captain for every decade, so if you are interested in helping, please reach out to me at smitchell@sae.net. Thanks in advance for your consideration when we reach out to you for support!
