"My name is Brody Hiipakka '24, and I am a junior at Indiana University studying operations management, marketing, and professional sales. Besides being an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, I am also involved in the Global Sales Workshop. Through the workshop, students get exclusive opportunities to network and learn from 23 different corporate partners in industries such as medical sales, tech sales, CPG sales, etc. Students compete amongst other members of the workshop in face-to-face selling competitions where our corporate partners serve as buyers, judges, and mentors. I am the VP of corporate relations for the workshop, meaning I manage and organize all networking events, semester trips, sales competitions, and corporate lectures for members. The most advantageous aspect of my position has been the professional development and enhancement of my professional writing/public speaking skills. While being on the executive board, I've had the opportunity to help guide two brothers (one sophomore, one junior) into the workshop and help them hit the ground running. Like the brotherhood in ΣAE, I have made lifelong friends in the Global Sales Workshop. I will continue to encourage brothers to join a community, such as a club or a workshop within Kelley, that will develop them personally and professionally." "My name is Andrew Tkacz '24, and I am a junior at Indiana University studying finance. In my time at IU, the Wealth Management Workshop has had a profound impact on my professional development and the growth of my future career in wealth management. Through the workshop, students are exposed to career opportunities in wealth management and given the opportunity to complete the education prerequisites for the Certified Financial Planner designation through a series of courses. I currently serve as the director of internal communications for the workshop, handling communications between workshop members and the executive board. This role has been instrumental in building my communication skills and overall professional growth. The highlight of my involvement has been mentoring younger students as they navigate their way through networking, recruiting, interviewing, and everything else that comes with pursuing a career. Through ΣAE, I have had the privilege of mentoring two younger brothers who are now also in the Wealth Management Workshop, and seeing their growth has been an incredibly fulfilling process." THE INDIANA GRAM STUDENT WORKSHOP INTRODUCTIONS A s a brotherhood, we are always eager to see our members take on new opportunities for growth and development in their respective fields. Two brothers who have been involved with career workshops at IU through the Kelley School of Business were gracious enough to share their thoughts on the experience with us. Brody Hiipakka '24 and Andrew Tkacz '24 have remained devoted to their professional growth through student workshop opportunities through highly selective (and very competitive) Kelley School of Business workshops, and their work ethics have not gone unnoticed. Here's what some workshop leaders had to say about our members: Brody is in the Global Sales Workshop The Global Sales Workshop offers a unique multi-semester immersion experience that focuses on preparing students for a career in professional sales. The workshop connects undergraduates with corporate sales professionals to learn about real- world opportunities and challenges through competitions, round-table discussions, and networking events. The workshop is comprised of motivated students (sophomores, juniors, and seniors). The workshop meets weekly, competes in multiple sales competitions, travels to corporate partner headquarters, and builds strong relationships between its members and corporate partners. Andrew is part of the Schwab Wealth Management Workshop The Charles Schwab Wealth Management Workshop prepares students for careers in financial planning and wealth management. Specifically, it prepares students to take the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification, which is the key gateway to such a career. Workshop members also receive professional development opportunities, including guidance and training with Kelley School of Business alumni and other professionals in the field. "Brody has embraced the key elements of leadership in his quest to serve the workshop and its members as vice president corporate relations. I am proud of his commitment and the progress he has made in developing his leadership skills." CHARLES B. RAGLAND DBA, Center for Global Sales Leadership Executive Director "It has been an honor and a privilege working with Andrew this past year. Andrew has been a great addition to our executive team and has been vital to the growth we have had as a workshop in the past year. Andrew displays tremendous leadership, formally and informally, as he is always the first person volunteering his time to help the younger members learn and grow in the field of wealth management. I look forward to seeing all the success he will accomplish in this field and the leader he will be." JACK ANDREWS Wealth Management Workshop President "Andrew is a current student in my financial planning course. How does this speak to his contribution to the Wealth Management Workshop? For starters, Andrew is an eager learner, especially regarding financial planning, and his passion for this as a career is apparent. As soon as class ends, Andrew comes up to share ideas and talk about how we can better lead and improve the workshop. Andrew seems always willing to engage. It's infectious. He's following current events and 'leaning into' what we're discussing. Makes it worthwhile and value-added to interact with him."
