Dr. Moore is a nationally recognized scholar and motivatio- nal speaker with an emphasis on mentoring Black Male Athletes. He is the author of 5 books on Black Power politics, the history of police brutality and African Ame- rican activism, and his recent book, "Teaching Black History to White People." SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18 GALENTINE'S DAY TRIANGLE ROCK CLUB 7:30 p.m. Lift Every Voice will take us on a journey through Classical/Opera, and Sacred selections, to include Gospel and Spiritu- als. This year's performance will celebrate the music of black women with our theme "Ladies Night," and will feature Cumberland Choral Arts members. The Concert will also feature Dr. Denise Murchison Payton, Soprano, Monique Butler McLeod, Soprano and Jonathan Thomas, Baritone. They will also be joined by Cross Creek Chorale, Dr. Michael Martin, Artistic Director, Fayetteville State Concert Choir, Dr. Denise Payton, Director, and Fayetteville Technical Commu- nity College Chorale, Alec Powers, Director. Three mad- cap men in tights weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare's comedies, histories, and tragedies in one wild ride that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter. For information call 910-678-7186. ROOT FOR ROOTS CLARK PARK 3:30 p.m. What is the value of a root? Create a jour- nal of different plant roots while learning how they help plants meet their needs. Go on a walk out to the ravine to see how roots are holding trees to the banks. All ages are welcome to this free event. However, registration is required. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21 THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16 COMEDY COUCH PADDY'S IRISH PUB 7:30 p.m. Comedy Couch with the Locals Comedy Group and Lee Hardin. The Comedy Couch is an Open Mic Experience blending the unpredictably hilarious nature of open mic comedy with interactive pub games, and guest commentary spots for a night of pure fun you're not soon to forget. Open to new, up-and-comers and nationally touring feature comics, there is a spot on the couch for everyone. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19 FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17 COMEDY SHOW IRON MIKE CONFERENCE CENTER 7 p.m. The Accidental Discharge Comedy Show features comedians RJ Ryan and Bobby Henline and Chris Petty as the MC. Henline's comedic style is focused on making fun of not only himself but others who may or may not unwittingly enter his circle of everyday living. He keeps audiences rolling on the floor with his raw approach to his injuries as a burn survivor and living in a world that views him as "disabled."
