PI DEUTERON CHAPTER OF PHI GAMMA DELTA • FALL 2022 Left: Executive Director of Phi Gamma Delta, Rob Caudill, Akron '04, stops by to share a few words with our Chapter. We were honored to have him! Back row, from left: Holden Smith '25, Sam Durfort '23, Cameron Caraba '24, and Bill McGowan '86. Front row: Rex Henoch '79, Ty Hall '25, Rob Caudill, and Shawn McClaren '25. Right: Owen Gulick '26 and Alden Breford '26 hold up signs for our car wash fundraiser for Watts of Love. B rothers, I am happy to present an uplifting report of current events in our beloved Chapter House. Pi Deuteron was presented with an Outstanding Performance award for last year's FIJI Jayhawker at the annual Phi Gamma Delta Summit in Washington, D.C. The recognition is greatly appreciated, and we would like to extend a massive thank-you to all those behind the scenes who made it possible. Let's continue the forward progress this year and make another go at the Coon Plaque! On another note, Pi Deuteron has joined the #JoinTheFight movement against hazing. We are set to be one of the piloting chapters for the Built to Lead initiative, which aims to reshape the culture of Fraternity life. Please refer to the president's address on page 2 for more information about Built to Lead. Pi Deuteron has also introduced a reconstructed philanthropy program to build community connections and bring back involvement from Graduate Brothers. For example, charity events like silent auctions are among the preliminary ideas. In terms of events already in the works, we held our first FIJI Car Wash on September 25 th , raising $1,600 for Watts of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides safer electricity for those less fortunate around the world (Brother Kevin Kuster '91 sits on the Board of Directors). The event was a huge success, and we raised nearly $1,600 from FIJI families, students, and more. Congratulations and credit go to Ben Mondry '25 and Luka Owen '25 for setting up the fundraiser and to the 2026 class for staying in the heat to carry out the event. To learn more about, and support, this great organization, you can visit wattsoflove.org. Lastly, our Chapter wants to extend a gracious thank-you to the Horejsi, Ritchie, and Morris scholarship funds that help Undergraduate Brothers continue their academic journeys and alleviate financial stress. We wholeheartedly appreciate you and your continued support. We have started the year strong and look forward to continuing our progression! Press on, Brothers! Fraternally, David Brockman '23 Editor Perge! Pi Deuteron Aims to Make a Difference BUILDING CONNECTIONS IN OUR COMMUNITY AND BEYOND, AND CREATING WELL-ROUNDED MEN
