2 UCW NOVEMBER 2 - 8, 2022 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM NOVEMBER 2 - 30 CORNERSTONE SCAVENGER HUNT FAYETTEVILLE HISTORY MUSEUM The Fayetteville History Museum is ex- cited to host a unique self-serve down- town history adventure in November. Many of Fayetteville's historic buildings feature cornerstones, a stone that traditionally forms the base corner of a building, joining two walls. From Tuesday through Saturday, during the first three weeks of November, visitors are invited to travel through downtown and discover small hidden cornerstone gems scattered among Fayetteville's historic buildings. The Downtown Cornerstone Scavenger Hunt is for all historians ages six and over. Participants can stop at the Fayetteville History Museum during operating hours to pick up a scaven- ger hunt guide. The guide features a map and clues directing historians to nine cornerstones throughout downtown. NOVEMBER 3 - 13 THE ODD COUPLE CAPE FEAR REGIONAL THEATRE When Felix (a fastidious news writer) and Oscar (a sloppy sportswriter) both find themselves suddenly single, they become roommates to thwart loneli- ness and save money. Within days, their opposing natures have them at each other's throats in a hilarious story that will ring true to anyone who's ever found a great friend in their total opposite (or lived with a roommate!) NOVEMBER 10 MUSIC IN THE WILD CAPE FEAR BOTANICAL GARDEN The entire family is invited to Music in the Wild at Cape Fear Botanical Garden. From 6 to 8 p.m., listen to Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra's musicians while experiencing the "Garden Gone Wild" topiary exhibit. Heckler Brewing Company and food vendors will be on-site for purchase. Musicians featured are Fayetteville Symphony Orechestra's Jazz quartet, their flute/violin duo, and their youth orchestra ensembles! Children can enjoy an instrument petting zoo, and activities, and have a chance to meet the musicians! This event is free for Garden members and $10.00 + tax for non-members. Tickets can be bought at the door. COMEDY & COCKTAILS CHURCH ENTERTAINMENT Join the Church Entertainment Lounge for a fun Comedy & Cocktails Thursday. The preshow will be from 7 to 8 p.m. with Open Mic Comedy. Then sit back and be prepared to laugh out loud with their showcase of nationally touring comedians Phil Korz and La Chica Loca. Head- liner Phil Korz recently recorded his comedy special "Who Am I to Say No," at Caroline's on Broadway. NOVEMBER 13 THE LAST OF THE 357TH INFANTRY U.S. ARMY AIRBORNE & SPECIAL OPERATIONS MUSEUM The U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum will show the documentary, "The Last of the 357th Infantry", and host author Mark Hager to discuss his book, "The Last of the 357th Infantry: Harold Frank's WWII Story of Faith and Courage." Harold Frank is the special guest of this event. Frank fought bravely across the Cotentin Peninsula. Dur- ing the most intense fighting, Frank was ambushed and wounded in a deadly, nine-hour firefight with Germans. Taken prisoner, Frank found himself dumped first in a brutal Nazi POW concentration camp, then shipped to a grueling work camp. This is a free event. The shoppers will shop a selection that boasts the best in holiday decorations, handmade crafts, stylish jewelry and clothes, children's toys, specialty food items and much more. Proceeds from the Holly Day Fair benefit the Junior League of Fayetteville and its programs targeting homelessness and food insecurities. NOVMBER 4 - 6 HAMLET THE DOWNTOWN MARKET The live music woven throughout the play helps create an immersive and transporting experience for the audi- ence as if they are right there in the court of Elsinore with Hamlet himself. This isn't just any Shakespeare performance – it's a Shakespeare perfor- mance for the 21st century. So come and enjoy a unique take on one of the Bard's most famous works. All performances include a live music pre- show concert, light fare, beer, wine, and a show-themed cocktail.
