Layton Mank '59 – May 31, 2022 Ernest B. Palmer '60 – June 24, 2022 A LU M N I N EW S It has come to our attention that, in our spring 2022 newsletter, we mistakenly indicated Timothy A. Johnson Jr. '66 as deceased. He is alive and well, and we sincerely apologize for this error. Timothy graduated from law school in 1969 and started his own law firm three years later, which now numbers almost 90 lawyers. (You can check it out at jpfirm.com!) He retired in 2006, and he and Clair moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to be near their daughter, her husband, and their two kids. "It was quite a change leaving Florida, where we had spent our entire lives, not to mention our friends." During retirement, Timothy and Clair have enjoyed cruising in British Columbia and Alaska on their boat, which they have since sold. Timothy has gotten involved in some civic affairs, including a one-year stint as foreperson of the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury. For the past seven years, he has served as the volunteer debate coach at a local high school, which has had a measure of success: two teams became California State champions, and two teams finished second at the national debate tournament. During his last year, he had another team entered in the summer 2022 tournament. Candy and Bill Bowman Jr. '66 visited California in early June to attend one of their grandkid's high school graduations, and since Trisha and Wayne Thomas '67 were visiting the Johnsons at the same time, the families came together to catch up. August 2022 marked Timothy and Clair's 55-year wedding anniversary. They live in Palo Alto, Calif. Email: tim@timandclair.com WELCOME, NEW MEMBERS Page 4 SigEp Gator Heart
