"There's been a car show on Gravette Day for several years," said Steve Mitchael, Chairman of the Gravette Historical Museum Commission. The Museum Commission feels like the show fits nicely with its mission to promote history and will be the beneficiary of the proceeds this year. The Gravette Day Car Show is one of the largest annual shows in the area and often features more than 80 cars and trucks. "There will be a good variety of vehicles in attendance including both vintage and new cars and trucks and motorcycles," according to Steve. The event will feature music throughout the day plus an open house next door at the Gravette Community Room. "It's a true community room that you can rent for weddings or parties," Steve continued. "We want our car show participants and all who attend Gravette Day to come in so they can see that it's there and find out what it has to offer those who live in Gravette." The main attraction continues to be the amazing collection of vintage and new cars and trucks that always delights young and old alike. "Some of the cars will be featured in the parade," Steve said. "But all will be on display off Charlotte St. SE right across from the Gravette Historical Museum after the parade." For those bringing cars to exhibit and compete in the various categories for awards, registration begins at 8:00 a.m. "There are several classes that cars will compete in," Steve explained. "Like the oldest car and the one that came the furthest distance. Awards and trophies will be presented at 2 o'clock that afternoon." The car show is free to the public and, as in years past, the entry fee is a donation that will help fund the Museum's yearly expenses. Follow the signs off Highway 72 or Highway 59 to find your way to the show. The public is encouraged to come out and enjoy the vehicles and to visit the Museum and the Historic Kindley House.
