Main • Gentry, AR It feels like home!!! For your baking, cooking, special occasions and basic needs, we have you covered! I t's not too late to sign up for this year's Gravette Day 5K. So lace up your sneakers, and get ready to give your Gravette Day a running start! Whether you run, walk, trot or stroll, the 5K is fun event that raises money for a good cause, too. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Gravette Police Department's Shop-with- a-Cop program. Sponsored by The Gravette Gym, the event—now in it's 3rd year—is becoming more popular every year. "It has grown each year. It started with a little under 100 runners and has grown to around 150 runners," says Mallory Weaver, Communications Director for the city of Gravette. "We hope for even more this year." The mostly-flat course starts at the top of Old Town Park at 8:00 a.m. and heads down Lion Drive past the high school, then back up historic Main Street, and ends back at the top of Old Town Park at the finish line. The event will be timed by Run Around Racing of Joplin and there will be a kiosk for participants to print their times at the conclusion of the event. Runners, walkers, strollers, and leashed and well-behaved dogs are all welcome to join in the fun. "It really is an event for all," Mallory notes. "We have grade school age runners, high school cross country runners, adults pushing babies in strollers, adult athletes, walkers of all ages, runners in the 60+ category, and more," she notes. There will be music, fruit, and water at the start and finish lines, along with a photo op. Water stations will be set up in front of the high school, courtesy of Ozarks Community Hospital, and in front of Gravette Nutrition on Main Street, courtesy of Gravette Nutrition. The first 75 registered runners will receive an official Gravette Day 5K shirt courtesy of The Gravette Gym. The Gravette Police Department's Shop-with-a-Cop program allows police offers to take students from the Gravette School District shopping for the Christmas holiday. In 2021, they made holiday wishes come true for 25 students. The district boundaries include students from Gravette, western Bella Vista, Maysville, and Sulphur Springs. The Shop-with-a- Cop program is funded strictly through donations and fundraising. Cost is $30 for runners ages 19 and older and $15 for student runners under the age of 18. Medals and prizes will be given to the overall top finishers in the divisions of age 13 and under, ages 14-18, top male and female ages 19-59, and age 60+. Grand Savings Bank will give a cash prize to winners in each of the five categories. Registration is still open!
