4 • 129th AnnuAl grAvette DAy • Saturday, auguSt 13, 2022 T he 129th annual Gravette Day will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Kindley Park and at various locations around town. This year's theme is Celebrating Community. The annual celebration draws thousands from across the area. Here's what's happening: 6:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast Middle School cafeteria 607 Dallas St. Se ➤ Once again, the Kiwanis Club of Gravette will be rising early on Saturday morning to serve up all you can eat pancakes, sausages, orange juice and coffee for only $5. And the best part is all of the profits go towards the good work the Kiwanis Club does in the community. 8:00 a.m. 5K run/Walk Old town Park ➤ Now that you've got your carbs on, head to the starting line and walk, run or stroll in the Gravette Day 5K. It's sponsored by The Gravette Gym and benefits the Gravette Police Department's Shop-with-a-Cop program. Learn more about it on page 6. 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Farmer's Market Old town Park 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Museum tours Gravette historical Museum 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Museum basket raffle Gravette historical Museum 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. art show Civic Center ➤ The art show returns to Gravette Day this year, so be sure to check out works by local artists on display at the Civic Center. 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Food and vendor booths open Kindley Park ➤ Don't forget, the Pee-Wee football teams (and their family of fans) will be hauling in ice, lemons and sugar for their popular fresh-squeezed lemonade stand, which raises money for the Pee-Wee Football Program. 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Free Kids Zone Kindley Park ➤ Featuring inflatables and kids' rides. 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Car show ➤ The car show takes place at the "old bus barn" on Charlotte St. SE across from the museum. There is no cost to view the car show, but donations are welcome. Read more on page 5. 12:00 noon Parade ➤ Don't miss this Gravette Day tradition— the parade down historic Main Street. There will be three trophies awarded for best use of the theme,"Celebrating Community," most festive, and overall best entry. The parade route will be Charlotte SE to Highway 59, to Main Street, to Sixth SE, and back to Charlotte SE. This year's grand marshals are Robert and Geneva Hamilton. Get to know them on page 10. 12:20 (Immediately after the Parade) Money Drop Bank of Gravette - 211 Main St. ➤ This popular event features 1,000 ping- pong balls dropped from a bucket truck, with dollar amounts up to $100. There will be one drop for kids ages 5-13 and another for ages 14+. Catch a ball and claim your prize! 1:00 p.m. Opening Ceremony with Mayor Kurt Maddox Main Stage Kindley Park ➤ The opening ceremony will include awards for the youngest and oldest person in attendance, as well as the person who traveled the farthest to attend the event. The Main Stage is sponsored by Teasley Drug. 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Live Music Main Stage Kindley Park ➤ Move to the music by Arkansas' own Rackensack (Read more about them on page 7.) 2:00 p.m. Car Show awards announced Old Bus Barn (Charlotte St. Se) 3:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. Pageants Main Stage Kindley Park ➤ Take part in this hometown tradition by walking the runway or cheering on your favorite contestants.
