Join thousands reading the paper online at: www.DesertMessengerOnline.com RE-ELECT COUNCIL MEMBER LORETTA WARNER I have been a resident of Quartzsite since 2009 when I started my accounting business and subsequently a private mail service. When I was encouraged to run for Council eight years ago, I believed it was a way I could give back to my Community. One of my primary goals when I took my first Council seat was to improve the Community's perception of the Council. To that end, I have been doing educational and informative financial presentations over the last eight years. I believe these presentations have helped the Community better comprehend how government finances differ from the private sector. With the help of the Administration, Staff and fellow Council Members we have taken a conserva- tive approach to spending, so that now, we are in a very good financial position in spite of some State mandated spending limits and revenue cuts. During my tenure, and with the cooperation of my fellow Council members, the Town of Quartzsite has seen a vast improvement in our reputation through- out the State and the Community. As an example of the improvement, our sta- tus with the State Risk Pool went from being unable to participate in the Pool to our current status as a valued member of the Pool. This alone has saved the Town of Quartzsite thousands of dollars a year in insurance premiums. During my terms on Council there have been so many changes in the Town. I have been privileged to be involved in the decisions to move forward on proj- ects such as the completion of the renovation of Wastewater Treatment plant. And, more recently, the new backup well project is nearing completion. I also have had the honor of serving as the Vice Mayor for six years. In ad- dition, I serve on the Municipal Property Corporation (MPC) and Quartzsite Special Projects, Inc. Board of Directors. In each of these positions I have taken an oath to uphold laws and regulations of all levels of government in- cluding Federal, State and local. I believe I have lived up to those oaths to the best of my ability. My reputation of honesty and hard work have been principles I live by in my life, my business and my service to the Town of Quartzsite. I would appreciate your vote in the upcoming election as it is my intention, if re-elected, to continue to serve the Town of Quartzsite with honesty, integrity and in a positive, constructive manner.
