Town Council – 4-year Term 3. Randy Smith for Town Council on Facebook. I am a retired psych nurse. I have experience in dealing with all kinds of people in critical and emergen- cy situations. I have worked with the public in the medical field since Nov of 84. I have worked with handi- capped people and at one time was the house manager of a group home that housed developmentally dis- abled adults. I was in charge of running the house, the supplies, ap- pointments, food, hiring and firing staff and making sure all state regu- lations were met and kept up for the state issued license for the group home. I have organized medication rooms in private hospitals and been in charge of all supplies and medi- cations. I also worked as a part time recreational therapist in the private hospital where I was a nurse. My role as a psych nurse also required me to do medication counseling / education with patients and suicide prevention with suicidal patients who were placed on a 51/50 hold in the psychiatric hospital. In the public sector I worked in state run prisons and was a supervisor over the nurses in an entire yard in the prison. This required me to have good organizational skills and communication skills. I was in charge of all medications, supplies and making sure the nurses' work was completed. I had to work with charts and graphs, put them togeth- er and organize them to present at a monthly zoom meeting with all of the other supervising nurses in the state of California. Here in Quartzsite I have helped with the 4th of July event. I am also one of the residents at Gold Star that is in charge of the club house and library in our park. I also drove the Camel Express bus. I feel we are badly understaffed and under equipped medically in Quartzsite and would like to see a dentist, oph- thalmologist and even a veterinar- ian here in town, even if it is just a few times a week. I hope to be on the medical board here in the area and that this will help me achieve SEE CANDIDATES PAGE 16
