S ince our founding 150 years ago, the Missouri Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Mizzou has been an integral part of Greek life on campus. The house at 101 E. Burnam Road has provided a home away from home for more than 1,200 members over the years. It has not only sheltered us, but it is the foundation of our brotherhood and the backdrop for countless, unforgettable experiences for each of us. Today, Phi Delta Theta is a top fraternity at the University of Missouri in membership size, academics, and service hours. The biggest threat to this status is one all too familiar to the modern college student: financial challenges. To ease the cost of living at our house, we at Missouri Alpha must once again ask for your assistance as alumni. For Phi Delt to remain on par and competitive with the other fraternities on campus, we must reduce the financial burden on current and future members. Our Approach Our $500,000 goal will fund a two-pronged approach to assist our members. First, this campaign will establish the Missouri Alpha Scholarship Fund to assist young Phi scholars in their academic pursuit. It will also bolster our housing fund in the Phi Delta Theta Foundation, helping us stay on top of operation and maintenance costs in the chapter house. These funds will have a direct financial benefit on our members—both by addressing the ongoing challenges of college tuition as well as keeping undergraduate fraternity dues low. We Need Your Support Since we announced the campaign in January, we have doubled the number of donors and nearly doubled amount raised. Thanks to 48 generous alumni we have raised $311,236 toward our $500,000 goal. If you have yet to make your pledge we ask you to make a commitment today! In an alumni study we conducted prior to this campaign, 98% of respondents said that these funds are important to our future; a majority also believed the chapter should move forward with fundraising efforts. In other words: alumni wanted this campaign, and now we need you to deliver. What's Next? How to Give All gifts are appreciated, but we'll rely especially on long-term commitments and pledges to see this through. To make your pledge you have a few options: • Use the enclosed pledge form and reply envelope. • Visit phide.lt/150MOAlpha to make your gift online. • Scan the QR code to give online from your phone or tablet. Proud – Celebrating 150 Years of MO Alpha is only happening because of our gracious alumni, whose time and monetary contributions are priceless. Thank you for your ongoing support of Missouri Alpha and your consideration. Yours in the Bond, Tyler Alcorn '97 and Chris Hackman '93 Campaign Chairmen O ne of the most significant aspects of the fraternity experience is learning to prioritize service to others. For some, that may mean supporting local franchises, businesses, and churches; for others, prioritizing service is all those things and more—it's part of who they are. For Adam Beckett '95, giving back to communities is second nature. In addition to fraternity life, including attending philanthropic events as an undergraduate, Adam's experience as an ER physician and in the Marine Corps paved a path of leadership and global service. "Combined, these experiences were foundational for me," Adam began. "In 1996, I deployed with the Marines. Our mission included training alongside several Middle Eastern military services. This experience really sparked my interest for getting more involved in the world."
