GFR, a registered secular 501(c)(3) non-government organization, focuses on providing medical and humanitarian relief aid to countries around the world. Over the years, GFR expanded services to include community infrastructure improvement projects, disaster relief efforts, refugee relief work, and health care education services. GFR has worked in over 18 countries—and that list grows every year. Most recently, GFR worked in the Amazon River basin, where the team provided medical clinics and health education in multiple villages deep in the Amazon along with a hard-working construction team that built a 1,500-square-foot school in a small river-front village in one week, as well as sent teams to Liberia for medical relief and to Moldova for refugee relief work in Ukraine. Phi Delta Theta brothers have also joined Adam on GFR's relief missions. Adam comes from a long tradition of Phi Delta Theta; his father, two uncles, and all three brothers were members of the Missouri Alpha Chapter. No matter which walk of life Adam is on, Missouri Alpha is right there with him. Adam just returned from Liberia, where he was joined by a recent graduate and member of Missouri Alpha, Mike Ruesler '15. "Over the years, I've been fortunate to meet many more Phis from the chapter and bring them on our mission trips." Micah Anderson '22, currently a senior at the university and a fellow Phi, also joined Adam on the trip to the Amazon. "The skilled and dedicated volunteers are what make our organization unique. We have the capability and desire to assist in a variety of situations across the globe, and that's something we are all very proud of. GFR has grown over the years with volunteers from across the world serving in a multitude of situations, so I'm looking forward to seeing the lengths that we will cover the next 10 years," Adam enthused. When he's not serving in the field, Adam works at the University of Missouri Hospital as well as the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, both in Columbia. (Continued from page 1) "Don't be afraid to get out and see the world; it's an amazing place with lots of great people. If you feel compelled to get involved, whether that's with a relief organization, NGOs, Peace Corps, or even military service, just know that those efforts are very needed. Plus, it's a great experience that holds value later in life." Thank You, Loyal Donors!
