Epsilon Calls Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta • University of South Dakota • Summer 2022 (Continued on page 2) I n celebration of our 119th anniversary, we challenged our alumnae to give $119,000 by April 30 to complete these projects: • Finish the chapter room. This room is incredibly meaningful and was the foundation where we all had the opportunity to learn, grow, and become the outstanding female leaders we are today. Our plan is to make it a beautiful space for meetings as well as a casual hangout/study space. • Display our history of women by reframing our composites and displaying them throughout our home. • Upgrade necessary items, such as washer and dryer units, to make life cleaner and a bit easier for each sister. • Finish the loan commitments to NHC for our beautiful home. We want to thank the following alumnae and friends who responded to this challenge: If you are interested in supporting the initiatives above, we can still use your help. Show your gratitude with financial support as an alumna to continue the memories, bonds of sisterhood, and tradition of Alpha Xi Delta at the University of South Dakota. We hope, if anything, you smiled thinking of your collegiate years; beyond that, we hope you are also able to answer this request for support. TFJ! W hat defines a journey? A journey is an adventure. The roads may be narrow and direct, or curved and winding, but the memories we make along the way are everlasting. The beauty of a journey is that every person has a different one: the age their journey started, where the adventure took them, and the lives they changed for the better. Kimberly Feddersen Burma '84 began her journey early on by watching her parents dedicate their time and energy into giving back and discovering new aspirations to pursue. Kim explained, "As I grew up, I watched my parents' hard work and giving nature. They paved the way for me to appreciate everything we have worked toward." Seeing the enrichment that giving back had on her family, she never hesitated to make a difference when presented the opportunity. Having grown up in a generous family (and marrying into one), Kim has served several community organizations, including United Way, Children's Home Society, Sioux Cares, and Great Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce. Even though impacting communities and their counterparts was instilled in Kim's life long ago, she witnessed the invaluable influence that a sisterhood, like Alpha Xi Delta, can have on her career, her relationships, and her life. "Originally, I had no intention of joining a sorority. After one night of recruitment, however, my thought process quickly changed from apprehension to excitement! Since that alteration in how I felt, I've made countless meaningful friendships that resulted in some of my best friends. I also had the honor of leading Epsilon Chapter ENJOYING THE JOURNEY AND EMBRACING THE DESTINATION Kimberly Feddersen Burma '84 Leads a Prosperous Path
