JULY 22 4TH FRIDAY DOWNTOWN FAYETTEVILLE Join downtown Fayetteville as the District comes alive with performances every 4th Friday of the month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. During the 4th Friday event, visitors can check out over 200 businesses, restaurants and attractions. There will be a variety of buskers on the streets throughout the District. There will also be various vendors and food carts to explore. This is a free event, and it is open to the public. The park opens at 5 p.m., and Throwback Collabora- tion Band will take the stage at 6 p.m. Headliners Rivermist will perform at 8 p.m. Event organizers ask that there be no soliciting, weapons, pets (service animals only), coolers, outside food/beverages, canopies or profanity/inappropriate behavior. WEDDING EXPO IRON MIKE CONFERENCE CENTER Let Iron Mike Conference Center help you plan your wedding and check out all that Iron Mike Conference Center offers to make your special day memo- rable. Sample food and visit vendors, including photographers, bakeries and more. There is no cost associated with attending this event. To reserve a spot, call Iron Mike Conference Center. Registration is not required but is strongly encouraged. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. JULY 23 JULY 16 INTRO TO CLAY SHOOTING FORT BRAGG CLAY TARGET CENTER NRA-certified shotgun instructors will be teaching an introduction to shotgun basics. These basics include safety, use, storage, firing, cleaning, gauge types, ammo types, operations, han- dling and shooting of shotguns provided at Clay Target Center. The class will be held at the Clay Target Center pavilion from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., con- sisting of a 3-hour block of instruction, a lunch break, and then 3 hours on the range. The package includes gun rental, four boxes of ammo, four rounds of 25 targets each, personal protection equipment, instruction on the range for shooting and Trap/Skeet basic instruction for beginners. The course is limited to 10 people (first come, first serve basis). There is no NRA affiliation, or will there be any certification or license issued or granted at the end of the instruction. This event is open to the public and is designed for ages 8 years and older only. Registration costs $70, and the registration deadline is three days before the event. Izzy Hall of Garden and Gather will lead this class with a wealth of knowledge about carnivorous plants and how to create a self-sustaining ecosystem in a jar. Hall will also be bringing in a few collections for guests to pur- chase. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Registration is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. To register, visit form.jotform. com/221666016089054. JULY 28 JULY 17 SUNSET SERIES CAPE FEAR BOTANICAL GARDEN Back by popular demand, Cape Fear Botanical Garden presents the Cold Case Files. Dun, dun, dun! This mys- tery will be difficult to solve. Activities include three murder mysteries, food trucks and drinks for purchase. Dress in your 1940's best for a chance to win "best dressed." Instructor Molly Hamelin will teach attendees how to swing dance, one of the most popular dances in the 1940s. Attendees should arrive as close to 5:30 p.m. as possible. The event is free for garden members and daily admission ($10 plus tax) for non-members. MIDSUMMER MAGIC DOWNTOWN FAYETTEVILLE Head to downtown for magical fun at the 7th Annual Midsummer Magic. This is a free two-day Fairy Door Scav- enger Hunt with programmed activi- ties, promotions and more. Prizes are up for grabs, too. While there is no admission fee, some activities and specials will have a cost. This event has no start time; show up whenever you wish from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Find your fairy journal containing a map that the fairies made with the fairy door scavenger hunt and quest instructions at participating downtown businesses and online at www.faydta.com. This journal will also show you where there are special promotions and activities. Fairy Journals will be available at participating businesses on July 29. Entry forms must be turned in by July 30. Dressing up as a fairy, gnome, dragon, princess, goblin, elf, sprite or a magical creature is encouraged; there will be a cos- tume contest, and hashtag your pictures (#MidsummerMagicFayNC) for a chance to win prizes.
