PI DEUTERON CHAPTER OF PHI GAMMA DELTA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS • SPRING 2022 T he spring 2022 semester is over, and we have much to celebrate at Pi Deuteron. Enjoy a quick recap of the happenings at 1540 Louisiana! We have successfully completed our first semester under a Graduate Trusteeship. Structure, accountability, and setting goals would be the best descriptors for the spring semester. Although the 2021-22 academic year is behind us, our leadership development is not over. We have five Undergraduate Brothers attending two different leadership academies this summer as well as four Brothers attended FIJI Academy in January 2023. Additionally, Pi Deuteron will send five Graduate and Undergraduate Brothers to our 174 th Ekklesia, held in Washington, D.C., August 11- 14. If you are a Pi Deuteron living near the Beltway and have interest in attending any events, then please contact kufijigraduatetrustrees@gmail. com to learn more. Pi Deuteron has agreed to become a Beta (test) Chapter for a different approach to new member education and leadership development. The program is called Built to Lead. At its core, the program shortens the new member education period and offers three levels of leadership development. The three levels progress along with the Brother's interest and priorities as he moves through his college experience. For example, level one focuses on learning the Fraternity and the power of Brotherhood, whereas level three focuses on leadership development outside of the collegiate experience: resumé writing, public speaking, Graduate Brother mentoring, and developing mature adult relationships. As a Beta Chapter, we have the opportunity to create content alongside the International Fraternity. If you have an interest is helping to develop level three curriculum, we could use your help now more than ever. Please email kufijigraduatetrustrees@gmail.com to see how you can get involved. Also, Graduate Brother engagement has been impressive and worth noting. In spring 2022, a twelve-member BCA was created, and each Monday this semester, we had at least one Graduate Brother attend Monday dinner as well as the Chapter meeting. Thank you to those brothers who helped celebrate Not for College Days Alone with the Undergraduate Brothers. We'll keep that tradition going for fall 2022. We are not done with our journey, and we still need your help! Specifically, we need two additional Graduate Trustees. Currently, we are a team of four and need to be a team of six to meet our commitments to the International Fraternity. We also need an additional BCA member to be the point of contact with IHQ on our Built to Lead program. If you are interested or want to learn more about the positions, please email kufijigraduatetrustees@gmail.com. Lastly, we hope to see you all in Lawrence on October 8 th for our 141 st annual Pig Dinner. The Pi Deuteron chapter has seen another year which brings forth new groups of Gold and Silver Owls. We would like to honor the graduating classes of '76 (Gold) and '01 (Silver). This will be an event that you won't want to miss. We hope to see you at the Pig Dinner this year to fully recognize these classes! ONWARD! Fraternally, Doug Draper '92 Graduate Trustee President kufijigraduatetrustees@gmail.com Perge!
