Most notably, we have a newly elected cabinet as well as new committees and updated plans. I have had the pleasure of connecting with a handful of the Brothers who are leading the way for the Chapter. "As Recruitment Chairmen, Logan Gulick '24 and I have taken our job very seriously over the past few months. Talking to hundreds of men going through recruitment and staying organized with our Graduate Brothers is not always a simple task, but we do recognize its incredible importance to the Fraternity. Our recruitment events have been nothing but successful thus far, and we are looking forward to future events as well. We are thrilled to have our incoming Brothers move into the Chapter House next year!" –Joe Wichlenski '24, Recruitment Chairman Another focal point for the Chapter is scholarship. Scholarship remains a significant aspect of our Brotherhood, and the men are even more encouraged to excel with newly created incentives as well as preexisting ones. "Scholarship has been highly valued and prioritized in the Chapter House. Ty Hall '25, Matthew Brown '25, and I are excited to carry on the tradition of being scholarly individuals. We have brought back and implemented several new scholarships, including the David E. Norris Scholarship and Helen Moore Scholarship, and remain thankful we continue to have the benefit of the Stewart and John Horejsi Scholarships, to further incentivize outstanding grades and also enabling us to focus on high quality recruits. Our fall 2021 Chapter GPA was 3.37, several points higher than the KU all-men's average. In addition, 11 brothers finished the semester with a 4.0. We are proud to continually display excellence in scholarship and have a strong finish to the spring semester!" –Holden Smith '25, Scholarship Chairman Riley Schulte '23, Cameron Karaba '24, Corbin Bates '24, Connor Cook '24, Logan Gulick '24, Cade Bohannon '24, and McCoy Burke '24 living luxuriously on their spring break trip in Padre this year. As far as philanthropy goes, the Chapter has a few new faces paving the way for enhancing Brotherhood and community engagement. Our leaders have prepared for the responsibility of building FIJI to be a positive presence within the community, and they are looking forward to getting to work. "As newly elected Chairmen for the house, Ben Mondry '25 and I have been focused on getting the Chapter involved in service-based activities. Our intention is to provide options to ensure all Brothers have the opportunity to find outlets within the community. We held a blood drive following spring break as one of our first service event. Also, Ben and I have been working to create a spreadsheet with the names of all members of the Chapter to log hours moving forward. We are excited to see what opportunities unfold and are proud to be able to help our surrounding community in various ways." –Luka Owen '25, Philanthropy Chairman This year and those that follow will be important pieces of Pi Deuteron's history. We have faced challenges before, but the future is very bright, especially having superb Chairmen incorporating new and successful strategies into operations. Looking ahead, we plan to place a positive footprint in the community. We would also like to give a huge thank-you to our Graduate Trustees, our old and our new cabinet, and Sam Dufort '23. During times of hardship, these men sprouted as leaders, and their hard work deserves recognition. You all are embodiments of what it means to be a Phi Gam. Press on! Fraternally, David Brockman '23 Editor Perge!
