Since job growth in this field is stronger than average, formal educa- tion is highly recommended to be competitive. rough studies in medical ter- minology, computer applications, medical office management, medical insurance and billing and medical- legal issues, as well as specialty areas within the new curriculum tracks, students are able to gain the skills necessary to be successful. e degree is not only available through face-to-face, evening and hybrid courses, but it can also be completed online. Students are required to complete a work-based learning internship in a medical facility, which allows them an opportunity to receive experience in their chosen careers. e Medical Office Administration curriculum prepares individuals for employment as medical administrative personnel in the areas of medical office, medi- cal billing and coding, dental office, patient service and medical docu- ments. Students learn administrative and support functions and develop skills applicable in medical environments. Registration for summer semester classes at FTCC is currently under- way; registration for fall classes began April 4. Summer classes start May 23 and fall semester classes start August 15. Students enjoy a sense of commu- nity at FTCC, with help from advi- sors, instructors, success coaches and others who support the college in various ways but always make FTCC students the priority. Students have an opportunity to grow their leader- ship skills through involvement with campus clubs and organizations, and the college's athletics program pro- vides unique opportunities to play as student-athletes or cheer on fellow classmates during games and athletic events.
