CONSERVING LEGACIES: PAST,
PRESENT AND FUTURE
ARTS COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE
Featuring over eighty selected works of his-
torical and contemporary visual artists from
The Fayetteville State University Fine Art Collection, the exhibit explores the
fabric of Black culture through imagery that is connected to love, jubilee, tragedy,
truth and challenges faced by people of color. The exhibit is free to the public.

GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT
CAPE FEAR BOTANICAL GARDENS

Cape Fear Botanical Garden will be
hosting this year's Great Backyard Bird
Count- a national day where bird watchers
of all ages count birds to create a real-time
snapshot of where birds are. Park Ranger Amber Williams from Lake Rim Park
will lead a birding hike. Although admission to the event is free with membership

LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING
HOLY TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH

Lift Every Voice will take you on a journey
through classical/opera, sacred selections,
to include gospel, and spirituals. This ye-
ar's performance will celebrate the music
of Motown, and will feature Cumberland County Arts members Brenda Vander-
vort-Miller, Corey Leak, Chris Colon and Ryan Pagels. The Concert will also
feature Dr. Denise Murchison Payton, Monique Butler McLeod and James Clark,
with a special appearance by Cross Creek Chorale Artistic Director Dr. Michael
Martin. The performance will be at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Tickets are $15

REDISCOVERING THE SPIRITUALS
ARTS COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE

Join the Fayetteville-Cumberland County
Arts Council for "Rediscovering the Spiri-
tuals: A learn and listen experience." This
concert will include the performance of several Negro Spirituals paired with an
in-depth overview of the history of the folk songs that shaped the musical foun-
dation of our nation and several of today's popular genres. This is a free event

RUSSIAN BALLET: SWAN LAKE
CROWN COMPLEX

Choreographer Nadezhda Kalinina lovingly
retouches the oldest St. Petersburg ver-
sion of the ballet and adds her vision and
something more, that undoubtedly will leave audiences flushed with emotion.
Russian Ballet Theatre's dancers bring the choreography to life along with the
new exquisite hand-painted sets and 150 new hand-sewn costumes. Tickets can

ANNUAL MLK BRUNCH
CROWN COMPLEX
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
The 29th Annual MLK Brunch hosted by
the Fayetteville Cumberland County Min-
isterial Council has been rescheduled and
will go on as planned on Feb. 21. They will
be celebrating Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The keynote speaker
will be Dr. Darrell T. Allison, the Chancellor from Fayetteville State University.
Masks will be required and social distancing will be enforced. The event can be
attended either in-person or via live stream. The Youth Extravaganza, initially
scheduled for immediately after the event, will now take place at the Crown
Complex from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. that same day.
