The event includes a visit with Santa, parachute demonstration by the Golden Knights, holiday entertainment, kids activi- ties and food and beverages available for purchase. The Tree Lighting is Dec. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. Santa will arrive at approximately 5:30 p.m. This event is open to the public. For more information call 910-396-6317. DECEMBER 3 CHRISTMAS AT THE LAKE HOPE MILLS LAKE The town Christmas Tree at Hope Mills Lake will be lit at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3, so bring your chairs, blankets and cozy up next to the fire while listening to live Christmas carols by the Jay Stone Singers. Enjoy hot chocolate, desserts, visit with Elsa and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. DECEMBER 3 & 4 YULETIDE FEASTE METHODIST UNIVERSITY The Yuletide Feaste promises to take attendees back to the time of Queen Elizabeth I. This Renaissance-style dinner engagement features an el- egant four course meal, a festive banquet hall setting, a large cast of cos- tumed characters straight out of Tudor England and Methodist University students singing Christmas carols. Seating begins at 7 p.m. at Haymount United Methodist Church. Listen for the sound of that bell. Join Throckmorton Library for a fun event with this family movie favorite, "The Polar Express." Registration is required and space is limited. The event is open to the first 100 people that register. Interested parties can register at the Children's Desk at Throckmorton Library and the deadline to register is Dec 10. METEOR SHOWER VIEWING LAKE RIM PARK Learn about asteroids, meteorites and comets then head outside to view the Geminids, one of the most impressive meteor showers of the year. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and dress for the weather. This event occurs after operating hours, be sure to arrive promptly at 8 p.m. so staff are able to let you in the gate. DECEMBER 13 UGLY SWEATER BEER MILE DIRTBAG ALES BREWERY Rogue Alpha Athletics has sched- uled the Ugly Sweater Beer Mile. Come out Dec. 18 at 4 p.m. to ex- perience Dirtbag Ales Brewery 10 ounces at a time. Attend in your ugliest holiday sweater. Participants can run, jog, walk or crawl the one mile-ish course and enjoy four 10 ounce beers straight from Dirtbag Ales' on-site brewery. DECEMBER 18 DECEMBER 4 HOLIDAY HIGHLANDER DIRTBAG ALES BREWERY The Holiday Highlander is an ath- letic charity competition comprised of Highland Games and Strongman events on Dec. 4. All competitors must wear a kilt and all proceeds benefit charitable organizations. Weigh-ins and t-shirt pickups will be on Dec. 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Weigh-ins and t-shirt pickups can also be done from 7 to 7:30 p.m. THE NIGHT CIRCUS FESTIVAL PARK Step right up for Fayetteville's inaugural Night Circus: A District New Year's Eve Spectacular. This event is free of charge to the pub- lic. The family-friendly event will bring the magic of a traveling circus to Festival Park on New Year's Eve. The fun starts at 7:30 p.m. with a variety of roving carnival-esque performances designed to delight all the senses. Festival Park will come alive with color and sound, filled with the enticing scents emanating from popular food trucks and vendors. There will also be a D.J. and no circus would be com- plete without rides. Guests will be invited to enjoy a turn on the Ferris Wheel or carousel. At 10 p.m., headliner, 90's Dance Party, will take the stage, featuring Rob Base, Coolio, C+C Music Factory, and All- 4-One. These artists will keep the hits coming until the countdown to midnight. Complete with fireworks, Fayetteville will celebrate the start of 2022 in a whirlwind of magic and delight, as Fayetteville's rising New Year's star is unveiled. DECEMBER 31 DECEMBER 11 THE GREEN GRUMP WHO STOLE FOO-VILLE DOWNTOWN FAYETTEVILLE This free and self-guided scavenger hunt, will have appearances from the Grinch and Cindy Lou-Who. There is no starting point, participants can arrive anytime between 1 to 4 p.m. Find eight Grinchy balloon locations and once you have found them, take a picture. Upload your pictures or message the Downtown Alliance with all eight pictures and be entered to win a Grinch-themed gift basket. Ugly Christmas sweaters and Grinch attire encouraged.
