"I tried to go back in and my knee collapsed," he said. "That was hilarious." And, there was no crying. "Not anymore," he said. "Crying is a waste of time." Matt still cries. He was in tears after the Missouri game when he saw former Greenwood coach Rick Jones embrace his son in the middle of the field. Grant was on crutches, unable to play the fourth quarter after a knee sprain. "I don't know how you don't cry," Matt said. "There was Rick with his hands on Grant's shoulder, consoling my son. He's a great man." Jones is an analyst at Missouri now. It was Jones who talked Grant into going to Arkansas as a walk-on when everyone thought he was too small. "I had no SEC offers," Grant said. "UCA did offer after I had already committed to walk-on at Arkansas. But before that, the top school to offer was Air Force and they wanted me to be a triple-option fullback. "Tulsa recruited me some. But really it was a bunch of Division II offers like Ouachita Baptist. I thought that was what I was going to do." Jones brought Grant into his office to help sort out the decision. "I didn't know exactly what to do," he said. "He asked me where I thought I'd be able to play.
